Association between sleep duration and cognitive function and emotional disorders in middle‐aged and elderly patients with cerebral small vessel disease

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives To investigate the association between the sleep duration with cognitive impairment in middle‐aged and elderly patients with cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). Methods This cross‐sectional study enrolled hospitalized patients aged ≥55 years diagnosed with CSVD between November 2021 and August 2023.

Bile acid metabolism and sleep: Mechanistic interplay and clinical implications of the gut–liver–brain axis

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
Abstract The bidirectional interplay between sleep and metabolic homeostasis is fundamental to physiological health. While the roles of glucose and lipid metabolism in sleep regulation have been extensively characterized, bile acids (BAs), which are traditionally viewed as digestive surfactants, are emerging as critical metabolic messengers with ...

An electroencephalography sleep staging model based on bidirectional Mamba combining synergistic attention with interactive convolution

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study presents SIMSleepSM, a novel single‐channel electroencephalography (EEG) sleep staging model. It addresses two primary challenges: insufficient modeling of long‐range temporal dependencies combined with limited multi‐scale feature extraction, and poor accuracy in identifying the N1 stage.

Mechanically Enhanced, Antibacterial, and Double‐Network Hydrogel Flexible Sensors for Sleep Apnea Monitoring

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This report describes the preparation of an antibacterial hydrogel sensor from a polyvinyl alcohol/silk fibroin double network, tannic acid‐coated liquid metal, and copper particles, with an ethanol post‐treatment using a multi‐level structural regulation strategy. The obtained hydrogel is evaluated in the context of respiratory monitoring.
