Introdução: A obesidade e o tabagismo são fatores de risco para a presença de Síndrome de Apneia Obstrutiva do Sono (SAOS). A importância do tabagismo no SAOS decorre da inflamação crónica da mucosa nasofaríngea associada ao tabaco, com consequente redução do calibre da via aérea superior, facilitando assim o seu colapso durante o sono.
