Multiple apocrine cystadenomas
British Journal of Dermatology, 1979A 56-year-old man had approximately forty apocrine cystadenomas of the face and ears. Clinical examination and light microscopic findings were typical for apocrine cystadenomas. Electron microscopic findings showed an absence of annulate lamellae, thus differing from the only previously reported study.

Basal cell tumor with apocrine differentiation: Apocrine epithelioma
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1985A locally invasive tumor developed in a 71-year-old woman on the right retroauricular skin, involving cartilage and parotid glands. Histologically, the tumor displayed characteristic features of basal cell epithelioma accompanied by stromal fibrosis. Histochemically, an apocrine pattern in enzyme reactions was detected in tumor cells. Ultrastructurally,

Cutaneous Apocrine Mixed Tumor
The American Journal of Dermatopathology, 1998We report a case of cutaneous mixed tumor (CMT) composed of tubular branching structures lined by cells with apocrine characteristics. In addition, an apocrine duct in the outer sheath of an hair follicle was connected to the mixed tumor, a previously unreported finding.

Axillary apocrine carcinoma with Paget’s disease and apocrine naevus
Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, 2009Apocrine carcinoma is a rare malignant sweat-gland neoplasm with apocrine differentiation. There have been some reported cases of apocrine carcinoma with apocrine naevus. We report a case of a 78-year-old man with a painless tumour of the left axilla. Positron emission tomography (PET) showed slight fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in both axillae.

To the Editor.— Sweat gland tumors are perplexing problems in diagnosis and classification, partly because major varieties often show considerable minor variation in morphology. The unnecessary proliferation of diagnostic terminology for sweat gland adenomas based on such minor variations further complicates the matter.

An apocrine cystadenoma was examined with the electron microscope. Two types of cells were identified: secretory cells and basal (myoepithelial) cells. The secretory cells showed abundant granules that had the features of lipid droplets. The lumen of the cyst contained fragments of cytoplasm that appeared to be detached from the apical portions of the ...

APOCRINE ADENOMA Definition: Sometime the epithelial cells of nodular sclerosing adenosis show extensive apocrine metaplasia; these lesions may be termed apocrine adenoma. Synonym: Nodular sclerosing adenosis with apocrine metaplasia. Epidemiology: It is difficult to exactly establish the epidemiology of apocrine adenomas, as a few cases only have been
