Diseases of the Apocrine Sweat Glands
1991Figure 29.1 demonstrates the apocrine sweat glands as well as the eccrine glands covered in the next chapter. The apocrine sweat glands develop as part of the system of hair and sebaceous and apocrine glands. They are common in the axilla, anogenital region, periumbilical region, and on the nipples, and are occasionally found on the head and trunk. The

Neutrophilic hidradenitis induced by chemotherapy involves eccrine and apocrine glands.
American journal of dermatopathology, 1997Neutrophilic eccrine hidradenitis is a self-limited inflammatory dermatosis primarily induced by chemotherapeutic agents. We report the case of a 43-year-old patient treated with cytarabine, daunorubicin, and thioguanine for acute myelogenous leukemia ...

Apocrine gland adenocarcinoma and pheochromocytoma in a cat
Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association, 1997A 15-year-old, castrated male domestic shorthair was presented for a recurrent, perineal apocrine gland adenocarcinoma. A right adrenal mass was identified on abdominal radiography and ultrasonography performed as routine staging prior to surgical excision of the perineal tumor.

APOCRINE SWEAT GLAND CARCINOMA.
British Journal of Dermatology, 1970SUMMARY.— A case of apocrine sweat gland carcinoma in a man aged 78 is presented. The patient died of widespread huematogenous metastases. Enzyme histochemical findings were important for the final identification of the tumour.

The cytology of apocrine sweat glands
Zeitschrift fr Zellforschung und Mikroskopische Anatomie, 1965The secretory cells of human apocrine sweat glands are characterized by the presence of large mitochondria, which have scant cristae and an electron opaque matrix. Electron opaque granules, presumed to be a keratin, are present in the supranuclear cytoplasm.

The Process of Secretion in Swine Apocrine Sweat Glands
Anatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, 1990SummaryThe secretory process in swine apocrine sweat glands were studied by electron microscope. The sweat appeared to result from three different mechanisms: (a) fluid transport, probably involving a region of complex cellular interdigitations adjacent to the basement membrane, (b) exocytosis of vesicles, which in this species seem to be derived from ...

Malignant apocrine sweat gland carcinoma of the caruncle
Orbit, 2000A 34-year-old male presented with a mass in the medial aspect of the orbit. Histological examination demonstrated a malignant apocrine sweat gland carcinoma, which we consider to be most likely derived from the caruncle. We describe the clinical, radiological and histological features, with management options and a review of the relevant literature ...

Diseases of the Sebaceous, Sweat, and Apocrine Glands
2010Acne is a very common disorder of the pilosebaceous unit; it affects about 80-90% of adolescents. Acne is characterized by the formation of comedones, papules, pustules, and in some cases cysts and nodules. The face, chest, and back are the common sites affected; at these sites, the density of the sebaceous glands is high; these glands are under the ...

Sweat Glands: Eccrine and Apocrine
1989RAnvier (1879) distinguished two main classes of gland in mammalian skin, the “holocrine” glands (such as sebaceous glands), in which cellular disintegration provides the secretory material, and the “merocrine” glands, in which the cells do not lose their structural integrity.
