Phylogenetic relationships in Apocynaceae based on nuclear PHYA and plastid trnL-F sequences, with a focus on tribal relationships

open access: yesCaryologia, 2019
To date, most molecular phylogenetic studies of Apocynaceae have been based on plastid DNA regions or nuclear ribosomal DNA. In this study, we used part of the PHYA (phytochrome A) exon, a low-copy nuclear gene, and combined it with the trnL-F region ...

Some remarks on the taxonomy of the Plumerioideae (Apocynaceae)

open access: yesBothalia: African Biodiversity & Conservation, 1983
The family of the Apocynaceae is usually subdivided into two subfamilies, the Plumerioideae with the type genus Plumeria from tropical America, and the Apocynoideae, often named Echitoideae, with the type genus Apocynum from North America.

Evolution on the backbone: Apocynaceae phylogenomics and new perspectives on growth forms, flowers, and fruits

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, Volume 105, Issue 3, Page 495-513, March 2018., 2018
Premise of the Study We provide the largest phylogenetic analyses to date of Apocynaceae in terms of taxa and molecular data as a framework for analyzing the evolution of vegetative and reproductive traits. Methods We produced maximum‐likelihood phylogenies of Apocynaceae using 21 plastid loci sampled from 1045 species (nearly 25% of the family) and ...

Comparative occurrence of Prestonia R.Br. (Apocynaceae: Apocynoideae)

open access: yesScientific Electronic Archives, 2020
Apocynaceae is clearly monophyletic, as indicated by the presence of milky latex and a highly modified gyneum with separate ovaries and a modified stylet head. Prestonia (Apocynoideae / Echiteae), is composed of about 55 species, distributed from Mexico to Argentina, and in Brazil, 24 species occur.
