A Revision ofThenardiaH.B.K. (Apocynaceae, Apocynoideae) [PDF]
Abstract: A revision of the Mexican genus Thenardia H.B.K. is presented. Three species are here recognized: T. chiapensis J. K. Williams, T. floribunda H.B.K., and T. galeottiana Baillon. A complete account of synonymy, and typification is provided, as well as a key to species, photographs of types and pollen, and a distribution map of the species.

Premise of the Study We provide the largest phylogenetic analyses to date of Apocynaceae in terms of taxa and molecular data as a framework for analyzing the evolution of vegetative and reproductive traits. Methods We produced maximum‐likelihood phylogenies of Apocynaceae using 21 plastid loci sampled from 1045 species (nearly 25% of the family) and ...

Loss of phylogenetic diversity (PD) has gained increasing attention in conservation biology. However, PD is not equally distributed in a phylogeny and can be better assessed when species relatedness (phylogenetic structure: PS) is also considered. Here, we investigate PD and PS in two refuges of biodiversity in northeastern Brazil: the Bahia Costal ...

Numerical re-assessment of the phenetic relationship between Apocynaceae and Asclepiadaceae [PDF]
Recognition of the Apocynaceae and Asclepiadaceae as one family or as two separate but related families with five subfamilies was for long highly controversial. Raising some of the subfamilies to the rank of family was also disbutable.

Comparative occurrence of Prestonia R.Br. (Apocynaceae: Apocynoideae)
Apocynaceae is clearly monophyletic, as indicated by the presence of milky latex and a highly modified gyneum with separate ovaries and a modified stylet head. Prestonia (Apocynoideae / Echiteae), is composed of about 55 species, distributed from Mexico to Argentina, and in Brazil, 24 species occur.

PHYLOGENY OF APOCYNOIDEAE AND THE APSA CLADE (APOCYNACEAE S.L.)1
Abstract Phylogenetic relationships were reconstructed among 59 of 77 genera of subfamily Apocynoideae and exemplars of Periplocoideae, Secamonoideae, and Asclepiadoideae (collectively the APSA clade) using sequences from four regions of the chloroplast genome (trnL intron and trnL-trnF spacer, rpl16 intron, rps16 intron, matK and 3′ half of trnK ...
