Recalcitrant Emotions and the Two ‘Dogmas of Rationalism’: Lessons From Psychology and Behavioural Economics

open access: yesTheoria, Volume 91, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT ‘Recalcitrant emotions’ are those emotions that contradict one's explicit beliefs, such as fearing flying while claiming not to believe that it is dangerous. Emotional recalcitrance has often been used to challenge cognitivism, because of its comparison between recalcitrant emotions and contradictory beliefs.

On the Maximum Apollonian Sets

open access: yesNew Trends in Mathematical Science, 2022
In this study, the Apollonian sets are analytically examined in the plane equipped with the maximum distance function. It is determined that the maximum Apollonian set is not a maximum circle, but the closed simple rectilinear figure. Also, the classifications of the maximum Apollonian sets are given.

Nietzsche and Schiller on Aesthetic Distance

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, Volume 33, Issue 2, Page 562-576, June 2025.
Abstract A key contention of Nietzsche's philosophy is that art helps us affirm life. A common reading holds that it does so by paving over, concealing, or beautifying life's undesirable features. ‘Tell them I've had a wonderful life’: Wittgenstein's final words from the perspective of the world sub specie aeterni

open access: yesPhilosophical Investigations, Volume 48, Issue 2, Page 162-183, April 2025.
Abstract Some scholars suggest a puzzle presents itself in Ludwig Wittgenstein's final words in the mismatch between what Norman Malcolm describes as a ‘fiercely unhappy’ life and Wittgenstein's expression of that life as ‘wonderful’. Ronald L. Hall attempts to overcome the apparent puzzle by retranslating Wittgenstein's final words into an expression ...

Equivalence of the Apollonian and Its Inner Metric

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2010
We show that the equivalence of the Apollonian metric and its inner metric remains unchanged by the removal of a point from the domain. For this we need to assume that the complement of the domain is not contained in a hyperplane.

Modeling of Inscribed Dual Band Circular Fractal Antenna for Wi‐Fi Application Using Descartes Circle Theorem

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2025.
This research contributes to the advancement of compact and efficient antenna designs for wireless communication systems. Detailed considerations are given to the 2.4 and 5.2 GHz bands to ensure compatibility with standard Wi‐Fi protocols. The designed circular fractal antenna is compared with the conventional circular patch antenna and the results ...
