Comparative Analysis of Diversification Rates in Clonal and Non‐Clonal Flowering Plants

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 29, Issue 6, June 2026.
Using data from 16,465 angiosperm species across 2,997 genera, we classified genera as clonal, mixed, or non‐clonal and estimated diversification using genus‐level phylogeny with DR, MoM, and BAMM. Clonal genera consistently showed lower diversification rates than mixed and non‐clonal genera across all methods.

Screening of genome loci associated with gametophyte apomixis at Boechera holboellii plants (Brassicaceae family)

open access: yesФактори експериментальної еволюції організмів, 2013
Aims. Apomixis is the seeds-without-sex reproduction of floral plants at which germs in seeds arise from cells of maternal genotype without participation both genetic recombination and syngamy (fusion of male and female gametes).

Ecological and evolutionary implications of hybridization, polyploidy and apomixis in angiosperms

open access: yesBotan‪ical Sciences
Hybridization, polyploidy, and apomixis are related to the diversification of angiosperms, generating complex taxonomic relationships between species. Despite the differences in the frequencies of these phenomena, apomixis, the asexual seed production ...

Apomixis in Coix aquatica Roxb

open access: yes, 1975
When plants of Coix aquatica Roxb. were grown in isolation or bagged, with removal of staminate spikelets several produced one or two seeds, and one plant formed several seeds.

Repeatability, Genetic Variability and Importance of Forage Traits in Ecotypes of Brunswickgrass (Paspalum nicorae Parodi) via BLUP

open access: yesPlant Breeding, Volume 145, Issue 3, Page 561-574, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study estimated the repeatability of forage traits in 84 Paspalum nicorae ecotypes using six statistical methods and quantified the minimum number of harvests needed for effective selection. Multivariate analyses based on best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) values were also performed to assess genetic variability, identify key traits ...

Apomixis Allows the Transgenerational Fixation of Phenotypes in Hybrid Plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The introduction of apomixis-asexual reproduction through seeds-into crop plants is considered the holy grail of agriculture, as it would provide a mechanism to maintain agriculturally important phenotypes [1, 2].

In Vivo Propagation of Root Explants of the Dandelion Species Taraxacum kok‐saghyz, Taraxacum officinale and Their Interspecific Hybrids

open access: yesPlant Breeding, Volume 145, Issue 3, Page 610-624, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The dandelion species Taraxacum kok‐saghyz is a promising new crop for natural rubber production and is currently in the early stages of the breeding process. To support these efforts, the multiplication and conservation of defined genotypes are crucial.

Clonal reproduction by seed of a cultivated hybrid plant: a new perspective for small-scale rice growers

open access: yesComptes Rendus Biologies
Transferring an asexual mode of reproduction by seeds (apomixis) to cultivated plants would enable clonal reproduction of heterozygous genotypes such as F1 hybrids with hybrid vigor (heterosis), facilitating their access and multiplication by small-scale

Separated Sexes, Shared Consequences: Disentangling Predictors of Genetic Diversity in Dioecious Angiosperms

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study evaluates the factors influencing intrapopulation genetic diversity in dioecious flowering plants by integrating genetic and ecological data from studies published up to 2025. We show that pollination mode, endemism, and conservation status significantly shape genetic diversity patterns, with endemic and threatened species exhibiting the ...
