Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Folding Under Inequilibrium Conditions as a Possible Reason for Partial Irreversibility of Heat-Denatured Proteins: Computer Simulation Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Using computer simulations we have studied possible effects of heating and cooling at different scan rates on unfolding and refolding of macromolecules. We have shown that even the simplest two-state reversible transition can behave irreversibly when an ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Electronic structures of B-2p and C-2p of boron-doped diamond film by soft X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2004
X-ray absorption (XAS) and emission (XES) spectroscopy near B-K and C-K edges have been performed on metallic (~1at%B, B-diamond) and semiconducting (~0.1at%B and N, BN-diamond) doped-diamond films.

The spectral properties of the Falicov-Kimball model in the weak-coupling limit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The $f$ and $d$ electron density of states of the one-dimensional Falicov-Kimball model are studied in the weak-coupling limit by exact diagonalization calculations. The resultant behaviors are used to examine the $d$-electron gap ($\Delta_{d}$), the $f$-

Definition of apparent activation energy on DTG curves

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2016
The article gives the results of sulphidation oxidized copper ores and tailings with sulfur. Defined by the apparent activation energy in the conditions of heating the mixture of substances interacting with a constant speed by differential thermogravimetry (DTG).

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Non-Arrhenius ionic conductivities in glasses due to a distribution of activation energies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Previously observed non-Arrhenius behavior in fast ion conducting glasses [\textit{Phys.\ Rev.\ Lett.}\ \textbf{76}, 70 (1996)] occurs at temperatures near the glass transition temperature, $T_{g}$, and is attributed to changes in the ion mobility due to

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Chromium silicide formation by ion mixing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The formation of CrSi_2 by ion mixing was studied as a function of temperature, silicide thickness and irradiated interface. Samples were prepared by annealing evaporated couples of Cr on Si and Si on Cr at 450°C for short times to form Si/CrSi_2/Cr ...
