Active Currents, Power Factor, and Apparent Power for Practical Power Delivery Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Concepts of apparent power and power factor as measures of a system's power delivery capability are over a century old but have not been defined in one general, rigorous and acceptable way.

The effects of manure and nitrogen fertilizer applications on soil organic carbon and nitrogen in a high-input cropping system. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
With the goal of improving N fertilizer management to maximize soil organic carbon (SOC) storage and minimize N losses in high-intensity cropping system, a 6-years greenhouse vegetable experiment was conducted from 2004 to 2010 in Shouguang, northern ...

Managing Apparent Loss and Real Loss from the Nexus Perspective Using System Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesWater, 2022
When water utilities establish water loss control programs, they traditionally focus on apparent loss rather than real loss when considering economic feasibility in the water sector. There is an urgent need for new management approaches that can address complex relationships and ensure the sustainability of natural resources among different sectors ...

Apparent loss of CFC‐113 in the upper ocean [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2001
We report and evaluate data of the chlorofluorocarbon CFC‐113, in comparison with concurrent data for CFC‐12, from cruises into the temperate North Atlantic, the tropical western Pacific, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Weddell Sea. We consistently find CFC‐113 deficiencies in the warmer upper waters, which we interpret as CFC‐113 depletion at rates

Apparent Loss of Glycine on Acid Hydrolysis

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1959
SummaryAn apparent loss of glycine with increasing time of acid hydrolysis has been described. Short-term hydrolysates contain glycine peptides which largely disappeared as time of hydrolysis was extended. Lowering the concentration of amino acids in the basal medium resulted in disappearance of this apparent loss of glycine.

Evaluating Parameters Influencing the Emergence and Increase of Non-Revenue Water Using Bayesian Networks (Case Study: District 4 of Tehran Water and Wastewater Company) [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی منابع آب, 2020
Effective strategies for optimal management of water distribution networks (WDNs) along with financial resources are clearly identifying design and performance parameters affecting the emergence of non-revenue water and reducing the impact of parameters.

Modeling apparent Pb loss in zircon U–Pb geochronology

open access: yesGeochronology, 2023
Abstract. The loss of radiogenic Pb from zircon is known to be a major factor that can cause inaccuracy in the U–Pb geochronological system; hence, there is a need to better characterize the distribution of Pb loss in natural samples. Treatment of zircon by chemical abrasion (CA) has become standard practice in isotope dilution–thermal ionization mass ...

Water Pricing as an Economic Justification for Reducing Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Projects [PDF]

open access: yesآب و فاضلاب, 2017
Management of water demand and modification of consumption patterns are becoming increasingly essential due to the increasingly limited precipitation and the growing population which have led to both severe restrictions on renewable water resources and ...

Progress in ileal endogenous amino acid flow research in poultry

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Biotechnology, 2021
The progress in our understanding of the endogenous protein concept over the past century is reviewed. Non-dietary proteins found in the digesta at the terminal ileum of poultry, known as endogenous protein loss, are comprised of digestive secretions ...
