Nutrient leaching and water quality from agricultural observation fields during 50 years of environmental monitoring in Sweden

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Scandinavica. Section B, Soil and Plant Science
Throughout the last 50 years, 16 agricultural fields in Sweden have been monitored for nutrient leaching losses and water chemistry via subsurface drainage water and groundwater.

Potential for grid efficiency based on a combination of leakage reactances of transformers of a transmission interconnecting line: Application of an exhaustive search algorithm

open access: yesJournal of Energy in Southern Africa, 2019
Transmission interconnecting lines (called interconnectors in this study) are built to facilitate the exchange of active and reactive power between two areas of a network.

Increased urinary losses in piglets fed diets containing high levels of glycerin

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2019
This study evaluated the nutritional value of glycerin added to diets of weaned piglets and its effects on animal performance and urinary losses. Weaned piglets were individually housed in metabolic cages and fed diets in which a basal diet containing ...

Studies and Research on Pipe Networks Water Losses

open access: yesThe Annals of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati. Fascicle IX, Metallurgy and Materials Science, 2017
The issue of water losses in pipe networks (transmission mains, conveyance and distribution pipelines) is one of the major problems encountered in water supply systems management.

Potential extinction cascades in a desert ecosystem: Linking food web interactions to community viability

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Desert communities are threatened with species loss due to climate change, and their resistance to such losses is unknown. We constructed a food web of the Mojave Desert terrestrial community (300 nodes, 4080 edges) to empirically examine the potential ...

Partition intersections and their effects on transmission loss and apparent sound transmission class [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of Meetings on Acoustics, 2013
It is widely recognized and accepted that poorly designed intersections between partitions can significantly reduce the sound isolation that is achieved. However, the effect of specific intersection details are not widely reported and available. This presentation will focus on a case study in which different intersection details have been tested in the

Demographic War Losses as a Determinant of the Population Development of Eastern Croatia in the Period 1991–2001

open access: yesMigracijske i etničke teme, 2005
The subject of study in this paper are demographic losses in Eastern Croatia during Croatia’s Homeland war. The goal of the research was to determine or assess the direct migration losses of this area in the period 1991–2002, and evaluate their effect on

On the Classification and Resolution of Apparent Information Loss in Physics

open access: yes
This work develops an operator-theoretic framework for analyzing claims of information loss across quantum theory, statistical mechanics, gravitation, and cosmology. The paper introduces observation maps as explicit structural objects and provides a classification scheme distinguishing genuine dynamical non-invertibility from apparent loss arising ...
