Pulsed food resources affect reproduction but not adult apparent survival in arctic foxes

Oecologia, 2020
As top or mesopredators, carnivores play a key role in food webs. Their survival and reproduction are usually thought to be influenced by prey availability. However, simultaneous monitoring of prey and predators is difficult, making it challenging to evaluate the impacts of prey on carnivores' demography.

A reanalysis of apparent survival rates of Indiana myotis (Myotis sodalis)

Acta Chiropterologica, 2007
(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) The estimation of demographic rates is important for conservation and management of species. However, with the exception of an estimate for adult survival by Humphrey and Cope in 1977, there are no estimates of any demographic rates for the endangered Indiana myotis (Myotis sodalis).

Can the apparent conflicting roles of PKC δ on cell proliferation and survival be reconciled?

Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, 2005
We appreciated the recent contribution by Vucenik et al. [1], reporting on the inhibitory effect of Inositol Hexaphosphate on MCF-7 cells proliferation through PKC d – dependent p27 and we wish to comment some aspects of it. Several studies have been published on the effects of this specific PKC isoform on growth and viability of a number of normal and

Habitat Guild Drives Variation In Apparent Survival of Landbirds In the Great Plains

The Wilson Journal of Ornithology, 2017
ABSTRACT Many species of songbirds in the United States have shown widespread declines in population numbers during the last five decades. To understand ongoing declines and plan for conservation, researchers need reliable estimates of adult survival and site fidelity.

Leading from the middle: surviving the squeeze of apparently irreconcilable forces

Leadership & Organization Development Journal, 2002
Leaders and managers often are asked to take positions on various issues that reflect the needs or particular agendas of various individuals or groups with whom they interact directly. Apparent improvement in survival for carcinoma of the cervix following the introduction of chemoradiation--a Will Rogers phenomenon.

Irish medical journal, 2013
The improved survival for bulky cervical cancers (> 4cm) reported with combination platinum based chemoradiation (1999) prompted a move away from surgery as these cases frequently received adjuvant radiotherapy and were exposed to the morbidity of multimodality treatment.

Apparent Survival of Male Harlequin Ducks Molting at the Gannet Islands, Labrador

Waterbirds, 2008
Abstract Survival rates are an essential parameter for understanding the dynamics and status of wild populations. Apparent survival (the combined probability of surviving and returning to a site) and capture rates were estimated for male Harlequin Ducks (Histrionicus histrionicus) (second-year, N = 30, adult, N = 83) that were captured and/or resighted
