Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Splicing Properties of Natural Fiber for Producing Yarns and Their Blends: A Review Paper

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers
Splicing stands as the preeminent technique employed for the seamless joining of yarn fibers. In stark contrast to traditional knotting methods, splicing achieves a level of seamlessness that closely mirrors the inherent structure of the yarn itself. The

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Appearance-Based Rejection Sensitivity Mediates the Relationship between Instagram Addiction and Dysmorphic Concerns in Young Adult Women

open access: yes, 2023
Introduction. Dysmorphic concerns refer to excessive preoccupations with one’s physical characteristics and there is a need to better understand the factors associated with these experiences, especially in young adult women.

Multi-objective optimization of visual and tactile desirability of wooden textures

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing
Affective and aesthetic qualities of textures largely depend on their visual and tactile features. However, to date, no systematic methods have been established for the design of such textures.

Colour appearance descriptors for image browsing and retrieval

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, we focus on the development of whole-scene colour appearance descriptors for classification to be used in browsing applications. The descriptors can classify a whole-scene image into various categories of semantically-based colour ...

Capturing appearance variation in active appearance models

open access: yes2010 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition - Workshops, 2010
The paper presents an extension of active appearance models (AAMs) that is better capable of dealing with the large variation in face appearance that is encountered in large multi-person face data sets. Instead of the traditional PCA-based texture model, our extended AAM employs a mixture of probabilistic PCA to describe texture variation, leading to a

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
