Evaluation of internal target volume of abdominal tumors using cine‐MRI

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction The detailed anatomy visualization with magnetic resonance (MR)‐guided radiotherapy is particularly attractive for abdominal treatments, but patient respiratory motion can compromise image quality. The “navigator technique” produces high‐quality 3D images, triggered by diaphragm displacement, in exhale phase only.

Tail-like cutaneous appendage at the upper thoracic region with a continuous stalk of limited dorsal myeloschisis

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Neurosurgery, 2020
Limited dorsal myeloschisis (LDM) is characterized by a fibroneural stalk linking the skin lesion to the underlying spinal cord. LDMs originally have either saccular or nonsaccular (flat) skin lesion; we recently demonstrated the human tail-like ...

Role of the AP2 beta-appendage hub in recruiting partners for clathrin-coated vesicle assembly.

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2006
Adaptor protein complex 2 alpha and beta-appendage domains act as hubs for the assembly of accessory protein networks involved in clathrin-coated vesicle formation. We identify a large repertoire of beta-appendage interactors by mass spectrometry.

Polypiectropus species (Trichoptera: Polycentropodidae) from China : with consideration of their phylogeny [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Six species of the genus Polyplectropns are recorded from the People's Republic of China. All the species are new to science. A key to the males is given. The larva of Polyplectropns nanjingensis sp. nov. is illustrated.

Using deep learning generated CBCT contours for online dose assessment of prostate SABR treatments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Prostate Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) is an ultra‐hypofractionated treatment where small setup errors can lead to higher doses to organs at risk (OARs). Although bowel and bladder preparation protocols reduce inter‐fraction variability, inconsistent patient adherence still results in OAR variability.

Displacement of occluder after left atrial appendage closure: A case report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Key Clinical Message Atrial fibrillation is closely associated with thrombotic events. In non‐valvular atrial fibrillation, 90% of thrombi are formed by the left atrial appendage.

Fine-scale appendage structure of the Cambrian trilobitomorph Naraoia spinosa and its ontogenetic and ecological implications

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society B, 2019
Trilobitomorphs are a species-rich Palaeozoic arthropod assemblage that unites trilobites with several other lineages that share similar appendage structure.

Machine stability and dosimetry for ultra‐high dose rate FLASH radiotherapy human clinical protocol

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The FLASH effect, induced by ultra‐high dose rate (UHDR) irradiations, offers the potential to spare normal tissue while effectively treating tumors. It is important to achieve precise and accurate dose delivery and to establish reliable detector systems, particularly for clinical trials needed to help the clinical transfer of FLASH‐

Spines and baskets in apex predatory sea scorpions uncover unique feeding strategies using 3D-kinematics

open access: yesiScience, 2022
Summary: Megalograptidae and Mixopteridae with elongate, spinose prosomal appendages are unique early Palaeozoic sea scorpions (Eurypterida). These features were presumably used for hunting, an untested hypothesis.

Left Atrial Appendage Epicardial Clip (AtriClip): Essentials and Post-Procedure Management.

open access: yesJournal of Atrial Fibrillation, 2019
Left atrial appendage exclusion is a viable alternative to anticoagulation for stroke risk reduction in atrial fibrillation patients. In this article we address the essentials and post-procedural management of left atrial appendage exclusion using the ...
