Entrapment Behavior of Solid Surrogate Fission Products at Engineered UN Nano‐Hetero‐Interfaces Within Metallic Nuclear Fuels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work endeavors to engineer uranium mononitride (UN) nanostructures within a metallic nuclear fuel (U─Mo), in order to trap potential fission products (Nd). From consolidation of the nanostructured U─Mo powders all the way to 1000 h at reactor‐like temperatures (500 °C), Nd preferentially migrates to nanostructure boundaries (hetero‐interfaces ...

Are goblet cell carcinoids a group of heterogeneous tumors?

open access: yesBiomedical Papers, 2017
Background: Goblet cell carcinoids belong to neuroendocrine tumors, according to the WHO classification. The tumors are diagnosed based on a typical histological pattern and using neuroendocrine markers.

High‐Energy Femtosecond All‐Fiber Laser Systems in 1.7–1.8 μm Using a Normal‐Dispersion Tm‐Doped Fiber

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
High‐energy ultrafast all‐fiber lasers are demonstrated in the 1.7–1.8 μm range using a novel Tm‐doped fiber with depressed cladding for dispersion tailoring and short‐pass filtering. A parabolic core enhances optical gain, overcoming poor gain overlap in conventional depressed cladding fibers.

Bearding Ritter von Köchel in his lair [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
As editor of the next iteration of the Köchel Catalogue, I have to deal with the current (sixth) edition’s Appendix C, devoted to "Doubtful and Misattributed Works." My goal is to reduce the potentially vast dimensions of that appendix to only those ...

Floquet‐Engineered Noise‐Resilient Terahertz Receiver with Modular Phased Array Architecture for Scalable Chip‐Scale Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Overcoming the bandwidth, latency, and power constraints of wired interconnects in multicore processing units, this work introduces a terahertz wireless solution featuring a dual‐carrier modular phased‐array transmitter and a novel 2D semiconductor quantum‐well nanoreceiver.

Experimental Test of the Three‐Setting Clauser–Horne–Shimony–Holt Inequality with Nonmaximally Orbital Angular Momentum Entangled States

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Herein, the maximum violation of the three‐setting Clauser–Horne–Shimony–Holt (CHSH) inequality using nonmaximally entangled photons with orbital angular momentum is demonstrated. By mapping the optimization problem to maximizing a triangle's perimeter inscribed in an ellipse, the experiment validates the geometric approach and highlights the ...
