The common motives for appendectomy in Hail Region Saudi Arabia

open access: yesAIMS Public Health, 2020
Background: Appendectomy remains the most common emergency surgery. With the lack of literature from Saudi Arabia regarding the treatment for appendix disorders, this study aimed to identify the common motives for appendectomy in Northern Saudi Arabia ...

Potential Improvements to National Park Service Visitor Surveys and Money Generation Modeling in Alaska [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study presents options for improving the use of the Money Generation Model in National Park Service (NPS) land units in Alaska. The Money Generation Model (MGM) is used nationwide to model economic impacts of visitation to public lands, including ...

Generic strange duality for $K3$ surfaces

open access: yes, 2010
Strange duality is shown to hold over generic $K3$ surfaces in a large number of cases. The isomorphism for elliptic $K3$ surfaces is established first via Fourier-Mukai techniques.

Influence of Layering and Curie Temperature Uncertainty on the Performance of Multilayer Active Magnetic Regenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how manufacturing uncertainties in Curie temperatures (1.5–2°C) affect multilayer active magnetic regenerators (AMR). While increasing the number of magnetocaloric layers boosts cooling power, performance degrades due to temperature variations.

Acute Appendicitis or Appendiceal Diverticulitis? A Case Report and Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesClinics and Practice
Background: Appendiceal diverticulitis is a rare and poorly understood condition of the appendix. The diagnosis of appendiceal diverticulitis is challenging due to its rarity and a clinical presentation that often mimics other ileocecal disorders. Unlike

Flexibility and Dynamicity Enhances and Controls Supramolecular Self‐Assembly of Zinc(II) Metallogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zinc(II) coordination complexes with tunable aryloxy‐imine ligands exhibit controllable supramolecular self‐assembly into hierarchical fibrous structures. Coordination‐driven stacking, not π–π interactions, enables gelation, dynamic assembly/disassembly, and enhanced nanomechanical properties.

Magnetic‐Field Tuning of the Spin Dynamics in the Quasi‐2D Van der Waals Antiferromagnet CuCrP2S6

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reveals 2D character of the spin dynamics in CuCrP2S6, as well as complex field dependence of collective excitations in the antiferromagnetically ordered state. Their remarkable tuning from the antiferromagnetic to the ferromagnetic type with magnetic field, together with the non‐degeneracy of the magnon gaps favorable for the induction of ...

An unusual polypoid lesion in the cecum

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2020
The inverted appendix or appendiceal stump is a rare finding that may be identified at colonoscopy. This may cause diagnostic confusion and be misinterpreted as a polyp with a risk of peritonitis if excised endoscopically.
