Effects of "anorexia" in appetitive and consummatory behavior.

Behavioral Neuroscience, 1988
In order to assess the effects of anorexigenic agents on appetitive and consummatory behavior, rats were given sweetened milk either in a bottle or by infusion through an intraoral cannula. In the first experiment, amphetamine (AMP; 0, 0.25, 0.5, and 1 mg/kg) had no effect on the intake of cannula-fed rats but suppressed the intake of bottle-fed rats ...

The future of genetic research on appetitive behavior

Appetite, 2004
The risk for developing obesity has a significant genetic component. Several quantitative trait loci and candidate genes have been identified using current methodological approaches however the information gained thus far is insufficient to adequately explain the genetics underlying human obesity. The completion of a draft of the human genome sequence,

Associated with the reduced food consumption are other behavioral changes, including alterations in meal patterns, appetite ratings, taste responsiveness, and ...

Simultaneous Generalization Gradients for Appetitive and Aversive Behavior

Science, 1960
In the presence of a bright light five monkeys were trained to press a lever to avoid shock and to pull a chain for food reward. When tested with a series of lights dimmer than the conditioning stimulus, the monkeys showed a sharp gradient of effect for the rewarded response, in contrast to a very flat gradient for the avoidance response.
