Apple mycotoxins: From orchard to processed apple puree

open access: yesFungal Biology
Apples and apple-derived products can be contaminated with patulin and, to a lesser extent, aflatoxin B1 and fumonisins. Fruits were collected from Golden Delicious and Imperatore trees in three orchards in Veneto, Northern Italy, and analysed for the presence of fungi and mycotoxins.

Proximity to wind turbines altered plant–pollinator dynamics in prairie and sagebrush ecosystems in Wyoming, USA

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Wind turbines influence several abiotic conditions in the environments they are sited in and may influence the behavior and movement of insect pollinators. It is unknown how operating turbines influence plant–pollinator interactions. To investigate if pollination dynamics could be affected by the presence of wind turbines, we recorded videos of ...

Decrease of Venturia inaequalis (Cook) Aderh. sensitivity to dodine and sterol demethylation inhibitor fungicides

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2002
The effectiveness of fenarimol and difeconazole, DMIs fungicides, and dodine was tested in two experimental orchards and in greenhouse in two seasons. In 2001 monitoring of resistance to dodine was conducted also in some commercial orchards located in ...

Theories of care help explain a peri‐urban tree diversity paradox

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Since diversity is often a management objective for peri‐urban tree communities on public land, one might expect to find greater diversity there than on private land, where such objectives are less common. However, this expectation rests on an assumption that people control diversity towards objectives, overlooking the role of relationships ...

Effect of Biochar on Apple Yield and Quality in Aged Apple Orchards on the Loess Plateau (China)

open access: yesAgronomy
Apples are not only a foodstuff, but also a raw material for many industrial production fields, and the market demand is constantly increasing. The Loess Plateau is one of the world’s largest apple-producing areas, with about 85% are aged orchards (more ...

ANALYSIS OF DOMESTIC PRODUCTION IN RELATION TO THE DEMAND AND SUPPLY OF GRAPES IN ROMANIA [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Papers Series : Management, Economic Engineering in Agriculture and Rural Development, 2019
Venturia inaequalis is a known pathogen for long time as causing apple scab disease or black spots. The extent of the disease expression highly depends on apple cultivars, the presence in orchards of host plants of the pathogen, climatic conditions and ...

Fertigation of Young Apple Orchards [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1996
Experiments conducted since 1986 indicate that multi-nutrient fertigation may be effective in improving early growth and yield of new orchards. However, the early studies did not provide information concerning the contributions of individual nutrient elements to these responses.

Pesticide use in integrated pest and pollinator management framework to protect pollinator health

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1691-1696, April 2025.
Integrated pest management (IPM) emphasizes non‐chemical methods, with pesticides as a last resort, while integrated pest and pollinator management (IPPM) integrates pollinator health into pest control strategies. Abstract Agricultural pesticides have historically been a critical tool in controlling pests and diseases, preventing widespread suffering ...
