Abstract Phloridzin, sieboldin, trilobatin, phloretin and 3-hydroxyphloretin can all be used as carbon sources by Venturia inaequalis in culture. Resistance to apple scab was not linked with inheritance of sieboldin or trilobatin in seedlings. There is no direct connection between phloridzin or its breakdown products and scab resistance.

DEVELOPMENT OF CISGENIC APPLES WITH DURABLE RESISTANCE TO APPLE SCAB
Acta Horticulturae, 2009Most of the apple (Malus × domestica) growers are facing serious disease problems with apple scab which is caused by the fungus Venturia inaequalis. Developing a resistant variety in apple through classical breeding is very slow and inefficient. So, we aim at improving existing apple varieties through a new concept called "cisgenesis" which saves time ...

Apple Proliferation Epidemics Detected in Scab‐Resistant Apple Trees
Journal of Phytopathology, 1995AbstractIn the Friuli‐Venezia Giulia, a region of Italy, where serious epidemics of apple proliferation (AP) are known to occur, varieties resistant to scab (Venturia inaequalis (Cke.) Wint.) are increasingly being used in new orchards. The most important cvs are Florina. Prima and Priscilla. These varieties were cultivated according to organic farming

Apple Scab: Resistance to Chemical Fungicides
Biology Bulletin ReviewsThe review highlights the situation with the development of resistance to various systemic fungicides in Venturia inaequalis around the world and in Russia, with an assessment of the prospects for their further use. Information is provided on all fungicides used in Russia against apple scab, their effectiveness at a given time, and a description of ...
