Coaching the Application of Agile Software Development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The success of agile software development has drawn attention to coaching as an alternative management style. In this paper, we argue that coaching, with its focus on trustful relationships, empathetic communication, mental models, and experiential learning, is suitable to facilitate the sustainable application of agile software development.

A Wireless Soft Optical Blood Sensor for Colonoscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
This works presents an “add‐on” wireless soft optical blood sensor for the traditional colonoscopy. It can reliably detect bleeding behind the colonoscope's distal tip camera via optical absorption, without optical fibers, and wirelessly transmit data to the processor.

Formalizing structured file services for the data storage and retrieval subsystem of the data management system for Spacestation Freedom [PDF]

open access: yes
A brief example of the use of formal methods techniques in the specification of a software system is presented. The report is part of a larger effort targeted at defining a formal methods pilot project for NASA.

Nanocrystalline Cellulose from the Solitary Tunicate Phallusia Mammillata, a Valuable Nanocellulose Precursor

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This study explores the potential of locally harvested Phallusia mammillata, a tunicate usually discarded as waste from mussles farming as a viable source for producing various high‐grade cellulose derivatives in the form of nanofibrils (NFC) and nanocrystals (CNC). Abstract Ascidians are ubiquitous filter‐feeding marine invertebrates, the only animals

Topoisomerase I Inhibition in ETV4‐overexpressed Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer Promotes Replication and Transcription Mediated R‐Loop Accumulation and DNA Damage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The oncogenic ETS factor ETV4 exerts a pleiotropic control over DNA replication both in a transcription‐dependent and ‐independent fashion in NSCLC cells. High‐ETV4 expression leads to R‐loop formation and DNA damage in response to TOP1 inhibition.

Role of Tunneling Nanotubes in Arachidonic Acid Transfer and Macrophage Function Reprogramming in Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tunneling nanotubes facilitate the transfer of long‐chain fatty acids, primarily arachidonic acid, from tumor cells to macrophages, leading to lipid accumulation and activation of the PI3K‐Akt pathway. This drives a shift from the anti‐tumor CD5L⁺ phenotype to a pro‐tumor TREM2⁺ phenotype.
