Short‐Term Outcomes and Cost Drivers of Emergency Surgery for Acute Abdominal Disease in Super‐Elderly Patients: A Study in the Japanese Tertiary Care Hospital

This retrospective study analyzed patients aged ≥ 85 years undergoing emergency abdominal surgery, focusing on short‐term outcomes and inpatient cost structure under the Japanese DPC system. Although major complications occurred in 19.4% of patients, more than 70% were discharged home.

Sex‐Based Body Composition Changes in Patients With Rectal Cancer Undergoing Preoperative Chemoradiotherapy: A Prospective Observational Study

Trends, Demographic Characteristics and Seasonal Patterns of Rectal Prolapse Surgery in Japan: A Nationwide Claims‐Based Analysis From 2014 to 2023

This study analyzed nationwide trends, demographic characteristics, and seasonal patterns of rectal prolapse surgery in Japan using healthcare claims data. From 2014 to 2023, age‐adjusted overall and conventional surgeries declined significantly, whereas laparoscopic surgeries increased significantly.

[O─I─O]+ Halogen‐Bonded Complexes of Pyridine N‐Oxides

The missing puzzle of 3‐center‐4‐electron halogen‐bonded complexes viz. [O─I─O]+ of pyridine N‐oxides are structurally characterized by x‐ray diffraction. Monodentate N‐oxide O‐atom acts as the halogen bond acceptor. Their solution complexations are characterized by 15N NMR spectroscopy.
