Industrial application of criticality predictions in software development
Proceedings Ninth International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering (Cat. No.98TB100257), 2002Cost-effective software project management has the serious need to focus resources on areas where they have biggest impact. Criticality predictions are typically applied for finding out such high-impact areas in terms of most effective defect detection.

Directed-graph models and their application to software development
Software & Microsystems, 1982The type of directed graph considered is that developed from the work of Karp and Miller. It has separate but interconnected directed graphs to represent data flow and control flow. These graphs are particularly suited to the specification and analysis of asynchronous parallel hardware and software.

IT Application Assessment Model for Global Software Development
2006 IEEE International Conference on Global Software Engineering (ICGSE'06), 2006In the technology enabled globalizing world with shrinking margins, IT offshore outsourcing is a well established practice in global software development. This is in line with the strategy of focusing only on core businesses of the enterprises. Despite this increasingly popular trend, the initial expectations of cost reduction of offshore outsourcing ...

The applicability of software engineering in information systems development
Information & Management, 1987The development of computer-based information systems involves more than the building of a complicated software system because each information system is embedded in a social and organizational environment. Software Engineering, which relies mainly on engineering approaches and places emphasis on formal methods, is inadequate to steer information ...

A Quality Software Process for Rapid Application Development
Software Quality Journal, 1998Software organizations can significantly improve the quality of their output if they have a defined and documented software process, together with the appropriate techniques and tools to measure its effectiveness. Without a defined process it is impossible to measure success or focus on how development capability can be enhanced.

The Application of ISO 9001 to Agile Software Development
2008In this paper we discuss how to reconcile agile development's focus on speed and lean development with ISO 9001's need for documentation, traceability and control. We see no need to change neither ISO 9001 nor the agile concept. Instead, we see a need to be flexible when using terms such as planning and evidence of conformance.
