Branching processes with biological applications
Branching processes play an important role in models of genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, ecology and evolutionary theory. This thesis explores three aspects of branching processes with biological applications.

The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Immortal branching Markov processes: Averaging properties and PCR applications
The immortal branching Markov process is a discrete-time branching process with immortal particles characterized by their types and states. A particle \(x\) gets its type \(t(x)\) and state \(s(x)\in R\) at the birth moment \(\tau_x\) and never changes them. At each moment \(n\geq\tau_x\), the particle \(x\) produces a random number of children.

Copper‐based composites enhanced with carbon feature convenient mechanical properties and favorable electric conductivity. Processing via deformation and thermomechanical treatments can introduce advantageous microstructures further enhancing their performance. Herein, copper–graphene powder‐based composites are directly consolidated via rotary swaging

The Center of Mass for Spatial Branching Processes and an Application for Self-Interaction
In this paper we prove that the center of mass of a supercritical branching-Brownian motion, or that of a supercritical super-Brownian motion tends to a limiting position almost surely, which, in a sense complements a result of Tribe on the final behavior of a critical super-Brownian motion.
