Applications of evolutionary computation in electric power systems

Proceedings of the 2002 Congress on Evolutionary Computation. CEC'02 (Cat. No.02TH8600), 2003
This survey covers the broad area of evolutionary computation applications to optimization, model identification, and control in power systems. Due to space limitation, all reviewed papers have been selected since 1996, from IEEE Transactions only. A total of 85 articles are listed in this survey.

Electrical Machines Used in Electric Power Steering Applications

2019 8th International Conference on Modern Power Systems (MPS), 2019
In advanced vehicles electric power steering systems owing several advantages are replacing the classical hydraulic ones. The main part of such systems is the electrical machine developing the required steering torque. The paper is a survey on the most widely used electrical machines proposed for these vital systems of a modern vehicle.

Electrical Power Distribution for Subsea Application

Offshore Technology Conference, 2000
Abstract Cost efficient development of offshore oil fields calls increasingly for alternative subsea solutions as a means of reducing topside infrastructure. Indeed, for fields in very deep waters, say at 10 000 ft, zero surface facilities may be the only viable way to go.

Applicability of the LASPs in the electric-power industry

IEEE EUROCON 2009, 2009
There is a unique technique named the Lot Acceptance Sampling Plan (LASP) in the field of statistical quality control. The typical types of the LASP are MIL-STD 105E, Philips and Dodge-Romig. The incoming lots are large in numerous cases in quality control that influence to high costs of quality control with respect to time-inspection, especially if ...

Electrical breakdown of power rectifiers for electric gun applications

Digest of Technical Papers. Tenth IEEE International Pulsed Power Conference, 2002
Experiments have been performed with a 100 kJ pulse-forming network (PFN) to characterize the transient behavior of semiconductor diodes serving as capacitor-protecting devices. In addition to the experiments, computer techniques are used to illustrate and predict the dynamic behavior of PFN diodes.

HTS materials for electric power application

IEEE Transactions on Appiled Superconductivity, 2000
Materials and manufacturing aspects are considered concerning high current HTc-superconductors such as BiPbSrCaCuO-based composites and bulk YBCO ceramics as well. Complex influences of chemical and phase compositions as well as different manufacturing parameters are shown on the current carrying capability of such conductors.
