Just below the surface: developing knowledge management systems using the paradigm of the noetic prism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper we examine how the principles embodied in the paradigm of the noetic prism can illuminate the construction of knowledge management systems.

Historical Changes in Basque Dative Alternations: Evidence for a P-based (neo)derivational analysis

open access: yesGlossa, 2017
The properties and internal chronology of various dative changes in the history of the Lapurdian dialect of Basque are shown to be fully incompatible with the basic tenets of standard non-derivational approaches to dative alternations (both Phave and ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

More on Geometric Morphisms between Realizability Toposes

open access: yes, 2014
Geometric morphisms between realizability toposes are studied in terms of morphisms between partial combinatory algebras (pcas). The morphisms inducing geometric morphisms (the {\em computationally dense\/} ones) are seen to be the ones whose `lifts' to ...

THE CONTRIBUTION OF TRACK AND FIELD APPLICATIVE ACTIVITIES TO THE IMPROVEMENT OF MOTOR CAPACITY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS DURING THE PHISYCAL EDUCATION CLASS [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the “Ştefan cel Mare” University: Physical Education and Sport Section - The Science and Art of Movement, 2018
For middle school students, track and field applicative activities energize activity, capture their interest and offer the possibility to improve and use what they learned in various conditions.

Teaching Methods Used in Primary Education for Making Physical Education Class More Effective

open access: yesPhysical Education Theory and Methodology, 2018
The objective is to demonstrate the importance of games that involve movement and of applicative pathways planning for making the class of physical education and sports in primary education more effective. Materials and methods. The participants in the

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
