In this paper the concept of statistical equilibrium of an isolated mechanical system chosen from a Gibbsian ensemble of such systems is modified to mean a state in which the observable local macroscopic properties such as the local density of particles, mean energy, temperature, entropy, etc., have attained their equilibrium values, i.e., the values ...

The diagnosis of invasive fungal diseases (IFD) based on clinical, radiological, and conventional microbiological findings is not reliable and is often delayed. Non-culture-based methods with higher sensitivity and specificity may reduce diagnostic time and result in decreased IFD morbidity and mortality.

AbstractObjective Many patients with haemorrhoids are investigated because of the fear of missing colorectal cancer (CRC). The aim of this study was to determine whether a primarily clinical approach regarding the need for investigation was safe and did not miss patients with CRC.Patients and methods Data was collected prospectively on 589 ...

The concentration of H + in blood plasma is one of the most finely regulated variables of the human physiology; acute changes of this concentration result in serious cellular and general consequences. An advanced understanding of the acid-base physiology is essential to the management of "acute" patients, and is as important as the exact understanding ...
