Medication Use During Breastfeeding—An Understudied Population: A Five‐Year Experience in the Pharmacovigilance Center of Lyon

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Medication use during breastfeeding is common, yet data on drug transfer into breast milk and infant exposure remain limited. This study describes real‐world requests concerning medication compatibility with breastfeeding managed by the Lyon pharmacovigilance center over five years.

Proteomic Profiling of Xenobiotic and Nutrient Transporters in Human Placenta of Different Gestational Ages

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
The placenta serves a critical role in nutrient uptake and waste elimination for the developing fetus. The placenta is also responsible for the uptake and/or exchange of xenobiotics, including medications, between the maternal and fetal bloodstreams. An estimated 40–80% of women take medications or drugs during pregnancy.

Unintended Pregnancies and Breastfeeding Studies during Central Nervous System Drug Development: How Are they Handled, Is There Room for Improvement?

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Pregnant and breastfeeding individuals are routinely excluded from clinical drug development, creating persistent evidence gaps in pharmacology, safety, and dosing. Despite mandatory contraception and pregnancy testing, unintended pregnancies occur, particularly during the development of central nervous system (CNS) medicines used by women of ...

Loss of POGLUT2/3‐mediated O‐glucosylation produces lung and aortic phenotypes reminiscent of fibrillin1 mutants

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Fibrillins provide a scaffold for elastic fiber formation, which enables lung recoil and aortic compliance. Abnormal fibrillin microfibrils, as in Marfan syndrome, lead to enlarged alveoli, vascular stiffening, and aneurysms. Our earlier studies suggested that fibrillin function depends on O‐glucosylation of its epidermal growth ...

PRDM16 is necessary for sensory neuronal development and differentiation in the trigeminal ganglion

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Cranial neural crest cells (cNCC) generate craniofacial cartilage, bone, and peripheral neurons and glia, and birth defects arise when the cartilage/neuronal/glial progenitors fail to differentiate. PRDM16 is a transcriptional regulator containing both zinc‐finger and SET domains, implicated in craniofacial development and orofacial

Hemodynamic loading regulates formation and patterning of atrial pectinate muscles in the chick embryo

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Development and differentiation of the atrial myocardium. Hemodynamic loading triggers shear stress response, which is essential for pectinate muscle formation; mechanical stretching is important for the expression of chamber myocardium markers and proper maturation of the atrial contractile and conductive properties.
