Truth maintenance in approximate reasoning
1991A reason maintenance system which extends an ATMS through Mukaidono's fuzzy logic is described. It supports a problem solver in situations affected by incomplete information and vague data, by allowing nonmonotonic inferences and the revision of previous conclusions when contradictions are detected.

Approximate Reasoning by Agents
2002We present an approach to approximate reasoning by agents in distributed environments based on calculi of information granules. Approximate reasoning schemes are basic schemes of information granule construction. An important property of such schemes is their robustness with respect to input deviations.

Evaluation of approximate reasoning methodologies
IEEE Conference on Aerospace and Electronics, 2002A methodology and architecture have been developed to compare the effectiveness and efficiency of evidential reasoning techniques based on the precision and completeness of domain information and observations. A generic classification tool (GCT) is developed to analyze the effectiveness of various evidential reasoning techniques.

Approximate reasoning with linguistic modifiers
International Journal of Intelligent Systems, 1998We analyze the influence of some usual linguistic modifiers, such as scalar product, normalization, Bouchon-Meunier modifiers, perturbation, and (weakening and reinforcement) power, in the process of approximate reasoning and clarify the difference between the conclusions of fuzzy modus ponens in which linguistic modifiers appear and do not appear in ...

Approximate reasoning on a DNA-chip
International Journal of Intelligent Computing and Cybernetics, 2010Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose an alternative approach to approximate reasoning by DNA computing, thereby adding a new dimension to the existing approximate reasoning method by bringing it down to nanoscale computing. The logical aspect of approximate reasoning is replaced by DNA chemistry.

A representation of approximate reasoning with analogy
[1993] Proceedings of the Twenty-Third International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic, 2002A scheme of approximate reasoning with analogical inference is proposed for purpose of flexible inference.

An approach to inference in approximate reasoning
International Journal of Man-Machine Studies, 1980We investigate the problem of making inferences based on fuzzy conditional statements. We discuss a new operation for both multivalued implication and fuzzy inference. This operation is based upon the exponentiation operation.

Mereological Foundations to Approximate Reasoning
2006In this article, we intend to present a synthetic account of mereological foundations for approximate reasoning along with an outline of applications of this approach to modern paradigms like Granular Computing, and Spatial Reasoning.
