Approximate Discrete Reconstruction Algorithm [PDF]

open access: possibleFundamenta Informaticae, 2013
Discrete tomography deals with tomographic reconstruction of greyscale images for which the set of possible grey levels is discrete and small. Here, we develop a discrete approximate reconstruction algorithm. Our algorithm computes an image that has only grey values belonging to a given finite set.

Nonlinear smoothing: approximate algorithms

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 1979
In this paper the method of stochastic linearization is employed to develop new approximate algorithms for nonlinear smoothing. Both fixed-point and fixed-interval smoothing cases are considered. An example is included to illustrate the use of the algorithms.

Approximate Traveling Salesman Algorithms

Operations Research, 1980
There have been a multitude of heuristic algorithms proposed for the solution of large scale traveling salesman problems. Our intent in this paper is to examine some of these well known heuristics, to introduce some new heuristics, and to compare these approximate techniques on the basis of efficiency and accuracy.

Approximate algorithms for approximate congruence

2013
We study the decision problem whether two sets of n points in the plane are approximately congruent with a given tolerance \varepsilon. Approximate algorithm means that the algorithm is not guaranteed to take a decision for all tolerance values.
