A kernel method for non-linear systems identification – infinite degree volterra series estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Volterra series expansions are widely used in analyzing and solving the problems of non-linear dynamical systems. However, the problem that the number of terms to be determined increases exponentially with the order of the expansion restricts its ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Dynamics of interacting Brownian particles: a diagrammatic formulation

open access: yes, 2007
We present a diagrammatic formulation of a theory for the time dependence of density fluctuations in equilibrium systems of interacting Brownian particles.

Computing the L∞-Induced Norm of LTI Systems: Generalization of Piecewise Quadratic and Cubic Approximations

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper is concerned with performance analysis for bounded persistent disturbances of continuous-time linear time-invariant (LTI) systems. Such an analysis can be done by computing the L∞-induced norm of continuous-time LTI systems since it ...

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Piecewise-Analytical Approximation Methods for Initial-Value Problems of Nonlinear, Ordinary Differential Equations: Part 2

open access: yesMathematics
A variety of methods that provide approximate piecewise- analytical solutions to initial-value problems governed by scalar, nonlinear, first-order, ordinary differential equations is presented.

An approximate analytical solution of Richards equation with finite boundary

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2017
We apply a series expansion technique to estimate the water content distribution and front position in finite boundary conditions. We derive an approximate analytical solution of the Richards equation (RE) for the horizontal infiltration problem.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Magnetization and susceptibility of ferrofluids

open access: yes, 2007
A second-order Taylor series expansion of the free energy functional provides analytical expressions for the magnetic field dependence of the free energy and of the magnetization of ferrofluids, here modelled by dipolar Yukawa interaction potentials. The

Observation of vibrating systems at different time instants

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2014
In this paper, we obtain new observability inequalities for the vibrating string. This work was motivated by a recent paper of A. Szijártó and J.
