Triangular approximation preserving the centroid of fuzzy numbers
International Journal of Computer Mathematics, 2012In this paper, the Karush–Kuhn–Tucker theorem is used for finding the nearest triangular approximation of a fuzzy number with respect to a well-known metric, which preserves the centroid of the fuzzy number, is studied. The properties of translation invariance, scale invariance and identity of the triangular approximation operator are discussed.

On the maximum entropy parameterized interval approximation of fuzzy numbers
Fuzzy Sets Syst., 2006This paper extends the interval-valued weighted possibilistic mean of a fuzzy number of Fuller and Majlender to a general weighting function without the monotonic increasing assumption. This weighting function determines a weighted average aggregation of

Weak approximation in the lattice of fuzzy number space
2011 Eighth International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD), 2011In this paper, first it is observed that the fuzzy number lattice satisfies the two infinite distributive laws for bounded set of fuzzy numbers, then it is shown that the lattice is not continuous. To overcome the deficiency of discontinuity the concept of weak below relation is introduced into the fuzzy number lattice in contrast to the way below ...

Weighted semi-trapezoidal approximations of fuzzy numbers
Fuzzy Sets and Systems, 2011The author embeds fuzzy numbers into a Hilbert space \(H\) for computing their weighted semi-trapezoidal approximations via best approximations in a closed convex subset of \(H\). Formulas of matricial type are given, thus improving results of \textit{A. I. Ban} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 160, No.~21, 3027--3047 (2009; Zbl 1183.03047); ibid.
