Higher-order transition state approximation

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2022
We generalize Slater’s transition state concept by deriving systematic higher-order transition state approximations. Numerical validation is performed by the calculation of transition energies for various excitations, including core, valence, and charge-transfer excitations, at Hartree–Fock and Kohn–Sham density functional theory levels.

First-order approximation

2021
This chapter focuses on the approximation of nonlinear hyperbolic systems using finite elements. We describe a somewhat loose adaptation to finite elements of a scheme introduced by Lax. The method, introduced by Guermond, Nazarov, and Popov, can be informally shown to be first-order accurate in time and space and to preserve every invariant set of the

Higher-order approximation

2021
The objective of this chapter is to describe techniques that preserve the invariant domain property of the algorithm introduced in the previous chapter and increase its accuracy in time and space. The argumentation for the time approximation is done for general hyperbolic systems, but the argumentation for the space approximation is done for scalar ...

Approximate Order Dependency Discovery

2021 IEEE 37th International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE), 2021
Lexicographical order dependencies (ODs) specify orders between list of attributes, and are proven useful in optimizing SQL queries with order by clauses. To find hidden ODs from dirty data in practice, in this paper we make a first effort to study the approximate OD discovery problem, aiming at automatically discovering ODs that hold on the data with ...
