On the Influence of AQM on Serialization of Packet Losses. [PDF]

open access: yesSensors (Basel), 2023
We study the influence of the active queue management mechanism based on the queue size on the serialization of packet losses, i.e., the occurrences of losses in long, consecutive series. We use a traffic model able to mimic precisely the autocorrelation function of traffic, which is known to be far from zero in packet networks.

Loss Process at an AQM Buffer

open access: yesJournal of Sensor and Actuator Networks, 2023
We perform a comprehensive analysis of packet losses occurring at an AQM buffer in which the packet deletion probability is relative to the size of the queue. Several characteristics of the loss process are derived: the number of deletions in an interval of length t, the temporary intensity of deletions at arbitrary time, the steady-state loss ratio ...

Enhancing AQM performance on wireless networks [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IFIP Wireless Days, 2012
Congestion management is a key factor in the provision of acceptable levels of quality of service (QoS) on wired networks. However, the concept of congestion management does not translate easily into the wireless domain. Active Queue Management (AQM) solutions for congestion avoidance have proved effective in wired networks but have not gained much ...

A proposed population-health based metric for evaluating representativeness of air quality monitoring in cities: Using Hong Kong as a demonstration.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
City air quality monitoring (AQM) network are typically sparsely distributed due to high operation costs. It is of the question of how well it can reflect public health risks to air pollution given the diversity and heterogeneity in pollution, and ...

Establishing A Sustainable Low-Cost Air Quality Monitoring Setup: A Survey of the State-of-the-Art

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Low-cost sensors (LCS) are becoming popular for air quality monitoring (AQM). They promise high spatial and temporal resolutions at low-cost. In addition, citizen science applications such as personal exposure monitoring can be implemented effortlessly ...

Trade-off queuing delay and link utilization for solving bufferbloat

open access: yesICT Express, 2020
To solve the bufferbloat problem, active queue management (AQM) has been recommended but existing AQM algorithms suffer from poor adaptability to dynamic traffics.

On Cross-Layer Interactions for Congestion Control in the Internet

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Two key mechanisms of the Internet are congestion control in the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Active Queue Management (AQM) in routers.

MAPPING AIR QUALITY WITH A MOBILE CROWDSOURCED AIR QUALITY MONITORING SYSTEM (C-AQM) [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2020
World cities are currently facing one of the major crisis of the last century. Some preliminary studies on COVID-19 pandemia have shown that air pollutants may have a strong impact on virus effects. Improved gas sensors and wireless communication systems
