Radiation Hardness Study of Single-Photon Avalanche Diode for Space and High Energy Physics Applications

open access: yesSensors, 2022
The radiation hardness of 180 nm complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) and 55 nm bipolar–CMOS–double-diffused MOS single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) is studied using 10 MeV and 100 MeV protons up to a displacement damage dose of 1 PeV/g.

Cormorant predation on PIT-tagged lake fish

open access: yesJournal of Limnology, 2014
The present study use data from recovered PIT (Passive Integrated Transponder) tags to explore species- and size-specific annual predation rates by cormorants on three common lacustrine fishes (size range 120-367 mm) in a European lake; roach (Rutilus ...

Quick Analysis of Organic Amendments via Portable X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The determination of heavy metals in soils and organic amendments, such as compost, manure, biofertilizer, and sludge, generally involves the digestion of samples with aqua regia, and the determination of those in the solution using various techniques ...

The Michelangelo step: removing scalloping and tapering effects in high aspect ratio through silicon vias

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
We present here, for the first time, a fabrication technique that allows manufacturing scallop free, non-tapered, high aspect ratio in through-silicon vias (TSVs) on silicon wafers.

The Effects of Different Footprint Sizes and Cloud Algorithms on the Top-Of-Atmosphere Radiative Flux Calculation from the Clouds and Earths Radiant Energy System (CERES) Instrument on Suomi National Polar-Orbiting Partnership (NPP) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Only one Clouds and Earths Radiant Energy System (CERES) instrument is onboard the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (NPP) and it has been placed in cross-track mode since launch; it is thus not possible to construct a set of angular distribution

Microscopic origin of universality in Casimir forces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The microscopic mechanisms for universality of Casimir forces between macroscopic conductors are displayed in a model of classical charged fluids. The model consists of two slabs in empty space at distance $d$ containing classical charged particles in ...
