AquaCrop: FAO's crop water productivity and yield response model

open access: yesEnvironmental Modelling & Software, 2014
With the help of relatively few conservative crop parameters, AquaCrop simulates final crop yield in four steps that are easy to understand, which makes the modeling approach transparent. The steps consist in the simulation of development of the green crop canopy cover, crop transpiration, above-ground biomass, and final crop yield.

Calibration and evaluation of the FAO AquaCrop model for canola (Brassica napus) under full and deficit irrigation in a semi-arid region

open access: yesApplied Water Science
Field experiments were conducted in the cropping years 2012 and 2013 with four irrigation treatments, I 1, I 2, I 3, and I 4, respectively, corresponding to full irrigation, 20, 35, and 50% less than the crop water requirement in a semi-arid region of ...

Evaluating the Efficiency of AquaCrop Model for Corn Plant Underwater and Fertilizer Management (Case study: Shush city) [PDF]

open access: yesفناوری‌های پیشرفته در بهره‌وری آب, 2022
Today, optimizing water consumption is one of the main priorities of agriculture. If on-farm water management is improved, water use efficiency will also increase. Farm water management can be done optimally with the help of simulation models.

Comparison of Virtual Water Amount and Sugarcane Consumption in Water Shortage Conditions of Khuzestan Region, Iran [PDF]

open access: yesWater Harvesting Research, 2023
This study aimed to assess the virtual water of sugarcane under two irrigation scenarios in the Khuzestan province of Iran. The first scenario (S1) reflected current water consumption conditions in sugarcane fields, while the second scenario (S2 ...

SpatialAquaCrop, an R Package for Raster-Based Implementation of the AquaCrop Model. [PDF]

open access: yesPlants (Basel), 2022
Modeling crop water use and soil moisture availability is becoming increasingly critical, particularly in light of recent drought events. Our study focuses on the spatial application of the AquaCrop model, using a raster-based approach in an R-based environment.

Simulation of alfalfa yield with AquaCrop

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management, 2023
The AquaCrop simulation model, originally designed for annual crops, is expanded here to simulate alfalfa, a perennial forage crop. A new routine was added to the model to mimic the assimilate partitioning between above and below-ground plant parts to account for the utilization of reserves in Spring and for their storage in the Fall. The simulation of

AquaCrop parametrisation for quinoa in arid environments

open access: yesItalian Journal of Agronomy, 2021
The resilience of quinoa to drought stress conditions makes the crop suitable for the Sahel region. It can support grain production during the dry season and be considered an alternative crop for alleviating food insecurity within the region. Given the importance of this crop outside the indigenous cultivation area, there is a requisite for the ...
