Assessment of AquaCrop Model on Potato Crop in Uruguay
The potato crop (Solanum tuberosum L.) is a high important crop in Uruguay. The Southern region is the most important production area of potato there. It is considered that in this region, irrigation should be supplementary since summer rainfall rarely reach crop requirements.

ABSTRACT Crop modelling is essential for agricultural water management but often relies on simplified water balance routines that limit representation of soil moisture dynamics. To address this limitation, we developed a coupled model that integrates the 1‐D Richards equation, solved using a finite difference method into the FAO AquaCrop.

Optimisation of AquaCrop backscatter simulations using Sentinel-1 observations
In preparation for active microwave-based data assimilation into a crop modeling system, the mapping of daily 1-km AquaCrop model (v6.1) biomass and surface soil moisture to backscatter was optimised, using two forward operators, i.e.

ABSTRACT There is limited integrated evaluation of nitrogen (N) and irrigation management strategies for improving maize yield and productivity using crop models. The effects of N and irrigation on maize yield and productivity under centre pivot (CPI) and subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) using the CERES‐Maize model were investigated. N treatments were (

Calibration and testing of AquaCrop for selected sorghum genotypes
Predicting yield response to water is important in rainfed agriculture. The objective of this study was to calibrate and test AquaCrop for simulating yield of 3 sorghum genotypes (PAN8816, a hybrid; Macia, an open-pollinated variety; and Ujiba, a landrace) grown during the 2013/14 and 2014/15 planting seasons (early, optimal and late planting dates ...

Multicriteria evaluation of the AquaCrop crop model in a hilly rainfed Mediterranean agrosystem
International audienceExploring crop spatial organizations within landscapes is a promising solution for agroecological transitions and climate change adaptation in Mediterranean rainfed hilly agrosystems. A prerequisite is to ensure that crop models can

ABSTRACT How large is the potential benefit for farmers from obtaining forecasts of total rainfall in the upcoming season? This critically depends on the local farm system and the crop management actions available to farmers to respond to the forecasts issued. Studies assessing the financial value of seasonal precipitation forecasts have so far focused

Do data from the RISMA soil monitoring network support agricultural modeling requirements?
Abstract The Real‐Time In‐Situ Soil Monitoring for Agriculture (RISMA) network provides soil water and agri‐environmental data for conceptualization, calibration, and validation of remote sensing and modeling products for Canadian agriculture at 32 stations in seven watersheds in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.
