The appropriate dietary methionine content reduces deamination and gluconeogenesis in Chinese perch (Siniperca chuatsi)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract This study evaluated the effects of different dietary methionine (Met) levels on the feeding, growth, and protein metabolism of Chinese perch, Siniperca chuatsi. Six diets containing graded levels of Met (0.88%, 1.11%, 1.68%, 2.02%, 2.27%, and 2.72%) were fed to fish (initial weight: 13.74 ± 0.12 g) for 8 weeks.

Dietary supplementation with Kelussia odoratissima extract improves growth performance and modulates intestinal cytokine‐related gene expression in zebrafish (Danio rerio)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Kelussia odoratissima (wild celery) is an endemic medicinal plant containing diverse bioactive phytochemicals; however, its potential as a dietary additive in fish has not previously been investigated. This study evaluated the effects of dietary hydroethanolic K.

Exploring the significance of Kenya's indigenous and emerging blue foods for sustainable aquaculture development. A review

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Kenya's aquaculture sector is at a pivotal stage, transitioning from a historical reliance on Nile tilapia and African catfish toward a more diversified production portfolio that integrates indigenous and emerging freshwater and marine species. This shift is increasingly recognized as essential to enhance climate resilience, food security, and

β‐myrcene: A nature‐identical compound for sustainable aquaculture

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Sustainability is essential for the continued development of aquaculture. A key aspect of sustainable aquaculture involves using natural and organic compounds as alternatives to chemical counterparts. Herbal‐derived compounds have gained significant attention because of their eco‐friendly properties and health benefits.

Responsiveness to price changes for major aquaculture products in U.S. retail markets

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Consumer preferences, purchasing behavior, and demand for seafood evolve over time. Measuring and understanding the effects of price changes on demand responses are critical to the design of effective marketing strategies for aquaculture producers.

Remediation of chronic ammonia effects in common carp by dietary thymol supplementation

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Chronic ammonia toxicity represents a major challenge in intensive aquaculture, often leading to impaired growth and physiological distress. This study evaluated the efficacy of dietary thymol supplementation in mitigating the deleterious effects of chronic ammonia exposure in common carp, Cyprinus carpio. Fish (initial weight: 10.41 ± 0.23 g)

Stressor‐ and Tissue‐Specific Regulation of the Corticotropin‐Releasing Factor System Across Epithelial Tissues in Rainbow Trout

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 17, 15 September 2026.
The gill and intestinal corticotropin‐releasing factor (CRF) systems in rainbow trout are differentially regulated by immune, osmotic, and nutritional stressors. Seawater transfer suppressed gill CRF system transcription and induced time‐dependent changes in the middle intestine. An immune challenge (vaccination) altered only intestinal CRF expression.
