ABSTRACT Lactococcosis, caused by Lactococcus garvieae, L. formosensis, and L. petauri, is an important bacterial disease of farmed fish worldwide. In Japan, L. petauri has not previously been reported as a cause of lactococcosis, although lactococcosis cases not attributable to either L. garvieae or L. formosensis have been recorded.

Microsatellites Cross-Species Amplification across Some African Cichlids [PDF]
The transfer of the genomic resources developed in the Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, to other Tilapiines sensu lato and African cichlid would provide new possibilities to study this amazing group from genetics, ecology, evolution, aquaculture, and

ABSTRACT Aeromonas hydrophila is a major zoonotic bacterial pathogen responsible for haemorrhagic septicemia, substantial economic losses in aquaculture and increasing antimicrobial resistance among field isolates. It is also one of the main bacterial species associated with mortality outbreaks in pirapitinga, Piaractus brachypomus, culture in the ...

ABSTRACT Tilapia (Oreochromis spp.) is an increasingly popular aquacultured fish worldwide. While tilapia enjoy a ‘hardy‐fish’ reputation among fish farmers, they are susceptible to a variety of infectious diseases that can be difficult to recognize pondside and have similarities in their gross presentations. This report describes gross and microscopic

ABSTRACT The fatty acid composition of fish is influenced by species, age, diet, and tissues, which respond differently to dietary lipids. This study examined how two commercial diets with contrasting polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) profiles, affecting eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), alter the fatty acid composition in ...

The cost of aquafeed continues to constrain aquaculture production amidst the availability of locally available ingredients for feed formulation and technological opportunities. Information dissemination and innovative rethinking on the utilization of local opportunities and youthful labor may spur the growth of the sector, thus improving fish protein.
