These beetles are diverse with respect to morphology, feeding habits, life-history patterns, and even in the degree to which they occur in water. 2013The species of the families Dytiscidae, Haliplidae, Noteridae and Gyrinidae (Coleoptera: Adephaga) from Alborz, Gilan, Mazandaran, Qazvin, and Tehran provinces are listed. These provinces are located in northern Iran. 27 species and subspecies belonging to 17 genera are here reported.

Review of paleontological data on the evolution of aquatic beetles (Coleoptera)
Paleontological Journal, 2015Paleontological data on the evolution of aquatic beetles are reviewed. A total of 37 beetle families are regarded as aquatic; five of them are extinct; three other extinct families could have had aquatic larvae; seven families are not known from the fossil record.

THE AQUATIC COLEOPTERA OF NEWFOUNDLAND & NOVA SCOTIA
The Canadian Entomologist, 1948There appear to be very few published records of the species of the Aquatic Coleoptera found in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. According to Hatch (1928, J. New York Ent. Soc., 36:335-354) only two papers deal with the Coleoptera of Nova Scotia and in each of these papers only a single species of the families of the aquatic beetles is named.
