PCR‐based species identification tools for wireworms (Coleoptera: Elateridae) of economic importance in Canada

Species‐specific PCR primers and PCR‐based assays were designed for the identification of 15 economically important and difficult to distinguish wireworm pests in Canada. PCR specificity testing and performance assessments confirm the accuracy of the assays.

Dietary differentiation of two co‐occurring common bat species (Eptesicus nilssonii and Pipistrellus pygmaeus)

Sympatric bat species can co‐exist and avoid interspecific competition via niche differentiation e.g. diet. Detecting dietary differences can be achieved by comparing dietary niches of sympatric and allopatric populations. If dietary overlap is higher in sympatry versus allopatry, co‐occurrence may be altering the dietary niche of the species.

Neonicotinoid seed treatments do not consistently reduce insect feeding damage nor increase yields in Maryland soy

We compared soybean plants from untreated and treated seeds across 4 sites and 3 years in Maryland.
