Phenology of aquatic macroinvertebrates in an alpine wetland

Hydrobiologia, 1996
The temporal distribution of populations of aquatic macroinvertebrates have been extensively investigated in temperate arctic regions, but little information is available for alpine regions in North America. This paper describes phenology patterns of the aquatic macroinvertebrates of a high elevation wetland (3593 m) in the Green Lakes Valley, Colorado

Macroinvertebrate Associations with Aquatic Macrophytes and Artificial Substrates

Journal of Great Lakes Research, 1979
Macroinvertebrate populations associated with Myriophyllum exalbescens, Potamogeton richardsonii, and Vallisneria americana were compared with those on plastic ‘plants’ similar in morphology to P. richardsonii. The density of organisms varied according to macrophyte species (Myriophyllum ≫ Potamogeton > Vallisneria).

The Response of Macroinvertebrates to Aquatic Macrophyte Decomposition

Oikos, 1980
The response of macroinvertebrates to the progressive decomposition of the American lotus Nelumbo lutea (Willd.) Pers. was examined. Macroinvertebrate densities increased significantly with the onset and progressive senescence of the leaves, as reflected by decreasing chlorophyll a concentrations.

Aquatic macroinvertebrate assemblages in mitigated and natural wetlands

Hydrobiologia, 2005
Many wetlands have been constructed in West Virginia as mitigation for a variety of human disturbances, but no comprehensive evaluation on their success has been conducted. Macroinvertebrates are extremely valuable components of functioning wetland ecosystems.

Functional diversity in studies of aquatic macroinvertebrates community

Scientometrics, 2017
We have compiled information from scientific articles from the ISI Web of Knowledge database (Thomson Reuters) to monitor trends and identify gaps in the use of functional diversity in studies of macroinvertebrates in stream ecosystems. We identified regions, periodicals, taxa and set of functional traits, which were more frequently used.

Salt cedar negatively affects biodiversity of aquatic Macroinvertebrates

Wetlands, 2001
Salt cedar (Tamarix ramossisima), an invasive species, has become a dominant shrub along many streams of the southwestern United States, where it has replaced many native species such as Fremont cottonwood (Populus fremontii). We examined whether the successful invasion of this exotic shrub alters stream leaf litter decomposition rates and affects the ...

Aquatic macroinvertebrate assemblages in wetlands of Northeastern China

Hydrobiologia, 2019
Invertebrates are crucially important components of wetland ecosystems. Their assemblages have been well described for wetlands in many parts of the world, but not for Asia. We sampled macroinvertebrates from 39 freshwater wetlands across Northeastern China.

Patterning and predicting aquatic macroinvertebrate diversities using artificial neural network

Water Research, 2003
A counterpropagation neural network (CPN) was applied to predict species richness (SR) and Shannon diversity index (SH) of benthic macroinvertebrate communities using 34 environmental variables. The data were collected at 664 sites at 23 different water types such as springs, streams, rivers, canals, ditches, lakes, and pools in The Netherlands.

Aquatic Macroinvertebrates of the Sava River

2015
The objective of this chapter is to present the data on aquatic macroinvertebrate communities along the Sava River, based on investigation performed during 2011 and 2012 at 12 sampling sites within the sector between Vrhovo (Slovenia) and Belgrade (confluence to the Danube).
