Effects of Heavy Metal Pollution on the Element Distribution in Hydrobios

open access: yesToxics
At a time when heavy metal pollution is increasing, assessing the levels of contamination and associated health risks is crucial. Samples of water, aquatic plants, and fish were collected from four key areas of heavy metal pollution prevention and ...

Trophic Diversity in Duckweed: Mixotrophy, More Than the Sum of its Extremes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the context of rising DOC in aquatic environments, mixotrophic duckweed may impact carbon cycling by acting as either a carbon sink, as they absorb CO2 through photosynthesis, or a carbon source, as they release CO2 through respiration of absorbed DOC, which depends on DOC concentration, light availability, temperature, and other environmental ...

Investigating effects of the excessive growth of aquatic plants on water quality in Anzali Lagoon, south-western Caspian Sea

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2004
In this study, excessive growth in submerged aquatic plants such as Coontail (Ceratophyllum demersum) and Pondweed (Potamogeton spp.), floating-leaved species such as Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) and free-floating species such as Water Fern (Azolla ...

Control of macrophytes by grass carp (ctenopharyngodon idella) in a Waikato drain, New Zealand

open access: yes, 2003
Hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum L.) and other aquatic macrophytes have historically been mechanically removed from the Rangiriri drain and Churchill East drain to maintain drain efficiency.

Mn‐Induced Support Stabilization and Ir Electronic Activation Enable Acid‐Stable, Low‐Loading IrO2 Water Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a dual‐regulation strategy utilizing a Mn‐doped Co3O4 support to enhance the activity and stability of low‐loading IrO2 catalysts for acidic water oxidation. Mn induces strong Mn─O covalency to reinforce the spinel lattice and activates Ir sites via interfacial electron transfer.

Dual‐Substrate Synergistic Photocatalysis: Exogenous Reagent‐Free Co‐Removal of Phenol and Cr(VI) via Electron‐Donor‐Mediated Redox Coupling over Modified Carbon Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An exogenous reagent‐free dual‐substrate strategy harnesses phenol as an intrinsic electron donor to drive synchronous phenol degradation and Cr(VI) reduction over modified carbon nitride. π–π stacking and hydrogen bonding direct electron transfer to the catalyst, enriching photogenerated electrons and accelerating Cr(VI) reduction 6.4‐fold. This waste‐

Machine Learning‐Driven Prediction of Microplastic Aging Processes and Environmental Risk Assessment Across Multi‐Media Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This perspective proposes a cohesive machine learning strategy to decode microplastic aging. It advocates for Federated Learning to dismantle global data silos and introduces the TRACE framework (TRansport, Aging, Corona, Ecotoxicity). By integrating physics‐informed modeling with causal discovery, this approach bridges the laboratory‐field gap to ...
