Aquatic toxicity test for enchytraeids

Hydrobiologia, 1989
It is the purpose of this report to present a simple method for testing the toxicity of chemical substances by using enchytraeids in an aquatic environment. Up to eight different environmental chemicals were applied to various species, mainly of the genus Enchytraeus. The results were compared with those achieved for D. magna.

Toxicity of alkyldinitrophenols to some aquatic organisms

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1976
The toxicity of alkyldinitrophenols to juvenile Atlantic salmon increases with increasing octanol-water partition coefficient of these compounds. Some alkyldinitrophenols are extremely toxic to juvenile Atlantic salmon, larvae and adult lobsters, but comparatively nontoxic to crayfish.

Aquatic Toxicity of Pinacolyl Alcohol

1986
Abstract : The aquatic toxicity of a secondary alcohol, 3,3-dimethyl-2-butanol Pinacolyl Alcohol (PA), was determined. Acute tests were conducted on Pimephales promelas, 48 hr EC50 = 443.1 mg PA/1, and Daphnia magna, 24 hr EC50 = 513.2 mg PA/1. Growth inhibition tests (96 hr) were conducted using Ankistrodesmus falcatus, EC50 = 257.7 mg PA/1.

Toxicity of fluoroquinolone antibiotics to aquatic organisms

Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2005
Abstract Toxicity tests were performed with seven fluoroquinolone antibiotics, ciprofloxacin, lomefloxacin, ofloxacin, levofloxacin, clinafloxacin, enrofloxacin, and flumequine, on five aquatic organisms. Overall toxicity values ranged from 7.9 to 23,000 μg/L. The cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa was the most sensitive organism (5-d

QSAR Model for Predicting Pesticide Aquatic Toxicity

Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling, 2005
A hierarchical QSAR approach was applied for the prediction of acute aquatic toxicity. Chemical structures were encoded into molecular descriptors by an automated, seamless procedure available within the OpenMolGRID system. Finally, various linear and nonlinear regression techniques were used to obtain stable and thoroughly validated QSARs.

Aquatic Toxicity of Phthalate Esters

2002
The aquatic toxicity of Phthalate esters is discussed in this chapter. This chapter begins with an examination of the physico-chemical properties of phthalate esters that have a significant influence on toxicity. Acute and chronic toxicity are then reviewed with a focus on chronic effects.

In Silico Modelling of Pesticide Aquatic Toxicity

Combinatorial Chemistry & High Throughput Screening, 2014
Human activities have introduced tens of thousands of chemicals into water systems around the world which has significantly impacted water quality and aquatic ecosystems. The aim of this study was to develop an in silico QSAR model, capable of predicting the aquatic toxicity of pesticides in terms of a lethal dose (LD50) for fish without requiring the ...

Predicting three narcosis mechanisms of aquatic toxicity

Toxicology Letters, 2002
In this study, the use of solute descriptors (the McGowan's characteristic volume V(X), the excess molar refraction R, the dipolarity/dipolarizability pi(H), the effective or summation hydrogen-bond acidity summation operatoralpha(H) and the effective or summation hydrogen-bond basicity summation operatorbeta(H)) in classifying and predicting the non ...

Acid Toxicity and Aquatic Animals

1989
This volume aims to review and present research on acid waters and their effects on aquatic animals. Starting initially with the environment in order to assess why the problems have arisen in particular areas, the volume then deals with field and survival studies on invertebrates and vertebrates and examines the extent of the biological problem and the
