Two nitrogen‐doped 2D conjugated metal‐organic frameworks (2D c‐MOFs, namely Cu‐Nx‐OHBA, x = 2 or 4) are synthesized, featuring precise nitrogen incorporation via rational ligand design. The Cu‐Nx‐OHBA 2D c‐MOFs are largely tailorable by varying skeletal nitrogen density, with respect to electrical conductivity, Li‐storage capacitance, and Li‐transport

A gradient M/MOx (M = Sn, Cu, Cd) synergistic interphase was constructed on Al via a one‐step displacement reaction. This interphase leverages high aluminophilicity and ion‐buffering capability to accelerate desolvation, enhance Al3+ transport, and suppress side reactions, enabling ultrastable symmetric cell operation at 0.05 mA cm−2 for 1800 h with an

Electrolyte design for aqueous batteries
Aqueous batteries, with their inherent safety, operational simplicity, and cost-effectiveness, have emerged as promising candidates for grid-scale energy storage applications. However, the relatively low output voltage of aqueous systems continues to limit their achievable energy density.

Choline chloride (ChCl) additive enables dynamic interface engineering in Zn‐I2 batteries by forming hydrophobic polyiodide complexes and a Zn‐stabilizing Ch+‐rich layer under electric field modulation. This dual‐function strategy suppresses iodine hydrolysis and dendrite formation, while optimizing Zn2+ solvation and transport for high‐efficiency ...

Sealing ZnO nanorods for deeply rechargeable high-energy aqueous battery anodes
Rechargeable Zn-based batteries are a safe alternative to Li-ion for compatibility with aqueous electrolyte. Also, theoretical volumetric energy density of Zn-based batteries (e.g. Zn-air) is ~85% of lithium-sulfur battery.

Electro‐Steric Ion Confinement in Polyelectrolyte Networks for Robust Nonvolatile Artificial Synapse
Polyelectrolyte stoichiometry governs ion transport and retention in electrolyte‐gated synaptic transistors. A PSS‐rich network creates electro‐steric ion confinement that suppresses ion back‐diffusion and stabilizes channel doping, enabling robust nonvolatile synaptic memory, linear weight updates, and low‐energy operation.

Intercalated water in aqueous batteries [PDF]
AbstractThe unprecedentedly growing demand for energy storage devices in recent years calls for diversified chemistries with unique advantages. When it comes to safety and cost, aqueous battery systems have attracted tremendous attention. Owing to its small size, high polarity, and hydrogen bonding, water in the electrode materials, either in the form ...
