Health and safety: Preliminary comparative assessment of the Satellite Power System (SPS) and other energy alternatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Data readily available from the literature were used to make an initial comparison of the health and safety risks of a fission power system with fuel reprocessing; a combined-cycle coal power system with a low-Btu gasifier and open-cycle gas turbine; a ...

Cinnamic‐Hydroxamic‐Acid Derivatives Exhibit Antibiotic, Anti‐Biofilm, and Supercoiling Relaxation Properties by Targeting Bacterial Nucleoid‐Associated Protein HU

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.

Outcomes of ab interno trabeculectomy with the trabectome by degree of angle opening. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
AimTo analyse ab interno trabeculectomy (AIT) with the trabectome and combined phacoemulsification with AIT (phaco-AIT) by Shaffer angle grade (SG).MethodsProspective study of AIT and phaco-AIT with narrow angles of SG≤2 versus open angles ≥3.

Lipid Droplet‐Localized Spindle Apparatus Coiled‐Coil Protein 1 Regulates Lipid Droplet Distribution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SPDL1‐L, a long isoform of SPDL1, is identified as a bona fide lipid droplet‐associated protein that acts as a dynein adaptor to drive perinuclear clustering of lipid droplets. By linking lipid droplets to the microtubule network, SPDL1‐L extends the function of SPDL1 beyond mitosis and contributes to lipid droplet organization and nuclear remodeling ...

Spontaneous malignant glaucoma: Case report and review of the literature. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Malignant glaucoma usually occurs after anterior segment surgery (typically after glaucoma surgery). The aim of this article is to report a case of spontaneous malignant glaucoma (SpMG), which required phacovitrectomy for resolution and to review the ...

High‐Security X‐Ray Imaging Encryption Based on Irreversible Acid‐Responsive Radioluminescence Memory Scintillator

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An irreversible acid‐responsive radioluminescence memory scintillator, Zn1.3Ga1.4Ge0.3O4:Cr3+@Zn2GeO4:Eu3+ (ZGGO@ZGO), is developed in this work. The engineered dual‐layer security system composed of ZGGO@ZGO and ZGO achieves a combined effect of visual misdirection and sequential logic gates requiring acid treatment and CCD detection, significantly ...
