Energy transfer in aqueous solution
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biophysics including Photosynthesis, 1961Abstract The photodecomposition of the polyene fungicide pimaricin and the photoisomerization of stilbene derivatives sensitized by riboflavin and lumichrome have been studied in aqueous solution. A triplet-triplet energy transfer is proposed as a mechanism for these reactions. The following observations support this mechanism.

Quinoline ozonation in aqueous solution
Water Research, 1990Abstract The oxidation of quinoxaline by ozone in aqueous solution is investigated. The chemical and kinetic evolution of the oxidation process at varying pH are followed by means of semi-batch and batch ozonation experiments. Results indicate that quinoxaline ozonation can develop according to both radical and ionic mechanisms whose relative ...

Spectroscopic Studies of Solutes in Aqueous Solution
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2008Absorption and fluorescence characteristics of aqueous solutions of salts, sugars, and amino acids were studied using UV-vis spectroscopy and spectrofluorometry. Motivation stemmed from unanticipated absorption spectral and fluorescence features of the "exclusion zone" seen adjacent to various hydrophilic surfaces.

Conformation of aspergillopeptidase a in aqueous solution
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology and Biological Oxidation, 1966Abstract The conformation of the extracellular acid proteinase of Aspergillus saitoi (aspergillopeptidase A, EC 3.4.4.17) has been investigated in aqueous solution. The optical rotation, [α] D , was −35°. The optical rotatory dispersion constant, λ c , was 207 mμ, and the Moffitt-Yang parameter, b 0 , was zero. The

Protein hydration in aqueous solution
Faraday Discuss., 1991High-resolution proton nuclear magnetic resonance studies of protein hydration in aqueous solution show that there are two qualitatively different types of hydration sites. A well-defined, small number of water molecules in the interior of the protein are in identical locations in the crystal structure and in solution, and their residence ...

Hydration of methanol in aqueous solution
Physical Review Letters, 1993We present neutron diffraction data on a 1:9 molar ratio methanol-water mixture in which isotope substitution is used to isolate the methyl hydrogen (M) to water hydrogen (H) pair correlation function. Spherical harmonic analysis of the data confirms the existence of a definite hydration shell of water molecules at a distance of approximately 3.7 ...

Recognition of Caffeine in Aqueous Solutions
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2003AbstractBinding of caffeine in aqueous solutions has been achieved for the first time by using water‐soluble, tetracationic peptide–porphyrin conjugates Zn‐1 as the receptor molecules. The association constant for caffeine with receptor Zn‐1 is in some cases as high as 6000 M−1, only 5–6 times lower than the highest binding constant reported for an ...

PHOTODEGRADATION OF HYDROXYCHLOROTHALONIL IN AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS
Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2001Abstract Hydroxychlorothalonil is the principal degradation product of the fungicide chlorothalonil in soil, and it is routinely detected in leachate from golf course greens at concentrations as high as 2 ppm. However, it is not detected in receiving waters of shallow ponds.

Photochemistry of norharmane in aqueous solution
Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences, 2009The photochemistry of norharmane (9H-pyrido[3,4-b]indole) in acidic (pH 5.0+/-0.1) and alkaline (pH 10.0+/-0.1) aqueous solutions was studied. The photochemical reactions were monitored by TLC, UV/VIS absorption spectroscopy, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), electronic ionization-mass spectrometry (EI-MS), UV-laser desorption/ionization ...

Solute-Solute Interactions in Aqueous Solutions
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968Solute-solute interactions in aqueous solutions of nonelectrolytes are interpreted using both lattice and distribution function theories of the dissolved state. Experimental activity data of high precision can be obtained from the literature for aqueous solutions of many nonelectrolytes.
