Quinoline ozonation in aqueous solution
Water Research, 1990Abstract The oxidation of quinoxaline by ozone in aqueous solution is investigated. The chemical and kinetic evolution of the oxidation process at varying pH are followed by means of semi-batch and batch ozonation experiments. Results indicate that quinoxaline ozonation can develop according to both radical and ionic mechanisms whose relative ...

Energy transfer in aqueous solution
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biophysics including Photosynthesis, 1961Abstract The photodecomposition of the polyene fungicide pimaricin and the photoisomerization of stilbene derivatives sensitized by riboflavin and lumichrome have been studied in aqueous solution. A triplet-triplet energy transfer is proposed as a mechanism for these reactions. The following observations support this mechanism.

Protein hydration in aqueous solution
Faraday Discuss., 1991High-resolution proton nuclear magnetic resonance studies of protein hydration in aqueous solution show that there are two qualitatively different types of hydration sites. A well-defined, small number of water molecules in the interior of the protein are in identical locations in the crystal structure and in solution, and their residence ...

Recognition of Caffeine in Aqueous Solutions
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2003AbstractBinding of caffeine in aqueous solutions has been achieved for the first time by using water‐soluble, tetracationic peptide–porphyrin conjugates Zn‐1 as the receptor molecules. The association constant for caffeine with receptor Zn‐1 is in some cases as high as 6000 M−1, only 5–6 times lower than the highest binding constant reported for an ...

Spectroscopic Studies of Solutes in Aqueous Solution
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2008Absorption and fluorescence characteristics of aqueous solutions of salts, sugars, and amino acids were studied using UV-vis spectroscopy and spectrofluorometry. Motivation stemmed from unanticipated absorption spectral and fluorescence features of the "exclusion zone" seen adjacent to various hydrophilic surfaces.

Ibuprofen photodegradation in aqueous solutions
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2016The advanced treatment of polluted liquid streams containing traces of pharmaceutical compounds is a major issue, since more and more effluents from pharma labs and wastewaters containing the excretions of medically treated humans and animals are discharged in the conventional wastewater treatment plants without previous effective treatments. Ibuprofen

Archives of Dermatology, 1977
To the Editor.— I am not really enlightened by Bernard Ackerman's reply to Dr Samuelson's query in the JulyArchives(111:925, 1975). If the antigens were "suspended in an aqueous solution," one immediately wonders "a solution of what?" If it was a solution of nothing or if the antigens were not in fact suspended, but dissolved, then it would have been ...

Hydrolysis of sulphonamides in aqueous solutions
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2012Hydrolysis is one of the most common reactions controlling abiotic degradation and is one of the main paths by which substances are degraded in the environment. Nevertheless, the available information on this process for many compounds, including sulphonamides (a group of antibiotic drugs widely used in veterinary medicine), is very limited.

Solute-Solute Interactions in Aqueous Solutions
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968Solute-solute interactions in aqueous solutions of nonelectrolytes are interpreted using both lattice and distribution function theories of the dissolved state. Experimental activity data of high precision can be obtained from the literature for aqueous solutions of many nonelectrolytes.

On Trans-Resveratrol in Aqueous Solutions
Journal of Solution Chemistry, 2017A thermodynamic study on aqueous solutions of trans-Resveratrol (3,5,4′-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) at 25.00 ± 0.02 °C, in 0.5 mol·dm−3 NaCl, has been conducted. The protolysis equilibria and the complex formation between trans-Resveratrol and a metal(II), namely Mn2+ and Cu2+, have been investigated.
