Estimation of aquifer parameters from residual drawdowns

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Water Management, 2010
Reliable and accurate estimation of aquifer parameters is a key process in efficiently managing the groundwater resources of a region. Today, a number of stochastic optimisation tools are available to solve the non-linear aquifer parameters using gradient-based techniques.

Aquifer Parameters, Pumping Test and the Yield

2016
The terms hydraulic conductivity (K), transmissibility (T) and storage coefficient (S) are useful for computation of yield. The hydraulic conductivity of an aquifer is its capacity to transmit and to yield it. The transmitting capacity for the entire thickness is known as transmissibility (T), and storage coefficient (S) of an aquifer is the volume of ...

Statistical Evaluation of Parameters in Heterogeneous Aquifers

Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, 2013
AbstractTransmissivity and storage estimates are questioned in laterally heterogeneous aquifers as to their representativeness of underlying assumptions in the classical aquifer test methods. For this purpose, the aquifer parameter estimations are obtained by the slope-matching procedure, and their statistical properties are investigated. The change of

Parameters that control the cleanup of fractured permeable aquifers

Journal of Contaminant Hydrology, 2008
This study develops a modeling approach for simulating and evaluating entrapped light nonaqueous-phase liquid (light NAPL-LNAPL) dissolution and transport of the solute in a fractured permeable aquifer (FPA). The term FPA refers to an aquifer made of porous blocks of high permeability that embed fractures.

Dilution parameters for aquifer potential pollution

2005
Dilution parameter have been proposed for the superficial unconfined aquifer in Alessandria plain (Piedmont – northwestern Italy). The aquifer vulnerability map of the study area has been compared by GIS methodologies with the pollution load and the nitrate concentration map.

Simple Method for Confined-Aquifer Parameter Estimation

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 2000
Early drawdown data, for which the argument u of the well function is >0.01, have often been considered unimportant in evaluating aquifer parameters. This paper shows that these early drawdown data, especially in the neighborhood of u = 0.43, can yield accurate values of aquifer parameters.

Simple generalized methods for estimating aquifer storage parameters

Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology, 1993
Abstract In many practical applications, hydrogeologists are called upon to predict aquifer behaviour in areas devoid of pumping test data. Estimations of transmissivity may sometimes be made from specific capacity records, but in general storage parameters (specific yield and storativity) are not readily obtainable.
