Enhancing Recharge Beneath Low‐Permeability Landscapes with Small‐Diameter Drywells: Token Creek, WI

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Shallow, small‐diameter drywells provide enhanced recharge in rural landscapes, bypassing the low infiltration rates caused by low permeability surficial soils and high ET rates. One year of monitoring data show several recharge events and overall high water quality.

Review of the 2020 Statewide Suitability Survey of ASR and AR for Texas Aquifers

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Since publication in 2020, the Statewide Survey of Aquifer Suitability for Aquifer Storage and Recovery Projects or Aquifer Recharge Projects interactive map experience and method have inspired researchers, water providers, and policymakers to explore the potential of aquifer storage and recovery and aquifer recharge in Texas.

Managed Aquifer Recharge Operations and Design under Hydrologic Uncertainty

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Integrated hydrologic modeling uses dual ensembles of MAR operations and IES‐derived parameters to evaluate mounding, inundation, and transport risks under climate extremes. Exceedance‐probability metrics quantify environmental risks across the MAR impact zone, showing drain‐controlled mound limits, recovery effects, and pathways to interdunal and ...

A New Approach to Transforming Airborne Electromagnetic Data into Models of Sediment Type

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
A new methodology provides the relationship needed to transform electrical resistivity measurements from airborne electromagnetic surveys to sediment type. By accounting for the physics of the measurement and the quality of the driller's logs used in developing the transform, the method improves the accuracy of derived sediment type models.

Evaluating Suitability for Surface Managed Aquifer Recharge to Enhance Dry‐Season Stream Flows

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Identifying suitable sites for surface MAR projects to enhance dry‐season stream flow requires evaluating the geology of the aquifer, depth to groundwater, soil permeability, topographic slope, the distance between the infiltration basin and receiving surface water, and other factors.
