A major contributing factor in declining populations of vultures is believed to be the widespread use of drugs such as Diclofenac, once commonly-used as a livestock anti-inflammatory drug. Use of Diclofenac is now banned in India.

The Steppe Eagle (Aquila nipalensis) is a bird without which it is impossible to imagine Kazakhstan. According to the latest 2018 population estimate, there were 20950–31570 breeding pairs in the country (68.5–82.2% of the world population).
