We devise a unique experimental methodology to accurately measure the sequential desorption of Ar atoms from the aromatic surface of 1-naphthol (NpOH). The dispersion-dominated NpOH·Ar1-3 complexes were characterized using resonant two-photon ionization (

New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Nowdays, Arabic already has its own charm. Apart from the Al-Quran and Hadith as sources of Islamic Shari'a which are imported from the original source in Arabic, the emergence of scientific disciplines linked to Shari'a adds to the public's attraction ...

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

A Note on Bias in First-Differenced AR(1) Models [PDF]
In this note, we derive the finite sample bias of the modified ordinary least squares (MOLS) estimator, which was suggested by Wansbeek and Knaap (1999) and reconsidered by Hayakawa (2006a,b). From the formula for the finite sample bias, we find that the
